This museum depicts houses churches and general life lead by people particularly farmers and artisans. Rich and poor houses show how males dominated.

Love the architecture. Can't have enough of the photos of all the architecture in this area. Apr is a good time to visit for the weather is good, cooling with clear blue sky. Also, it will not be overcrowded with tourists. A good place to...More

It was a great idea to visit the museum with kids! They got a full idea of what Russia was like more than a hundred years ago. All houses and mills are not a replica, they are original. Very impressed!

It's surprisingly interesting. All churches are rebuilt but as original ones with some logs from 12th century. Houses are more on the folkloric aspect but nice with kids.

We enjoyed seeing these wooden buildings and displays about rural life. You see houses of people of different economic levels-- one wealthy merchant and several more common homes with loft beds, old style Russian wood stoves, homemade weavings, farm tools, children's toys and clothes.

In a large open area there are a number of old wooden buildings, including two windmills. They have been moved to the site and re-erected. They include old farmhouses and a wooden church. well worth a visit.
