First met Jim who explained the 10 stop 18 mile driving tour & where to make turns. Matt then told about the Cedar Creek Battle that was displayed on a replica battlefield with Red & Blue lights. Now was my turn to just follow Jim's...More

Cedar Creek is far smaller and far less visited than, say, Gettysburg, but it is the site of an important Union victory in 1864. Much of the battlefield is preserved, and you can easily follow its course.

While in the area and loving Civil War history, we drove to the Cedar Creek Battlefield Visitor's Center. It is listed as an official NPS site. Expecting to get our National Park Passport stamped, instead we found the place "closed for vacation". It sure would...More

This is NOT the national park location. It is run by the Battlefield Foundation. They have done a very nice job preserving this area. Staff here very helpful, lots of good info and a small museum. Give it a look see.

l marked with historical markers. Not a big battlefield with drives and exhibits. But gives you a view of the fields where the men laid down their lives and fought over their convictions. It should be part of any battlefield tour.

I really enjoyed this battlefield. There are not a lot of markers or monuments. However the park is nicely kept. There was a very nice gentleman who had no problem interacting with my children.

The October 1864 Civil War battle of Cedar Creek is not particularly well known to the public, but it was a significant battle, and the last battle of many in the Shenandoah Valley. The small unassuming Cedar Creek Battlefield Visitor's Center is located in a...More
