This was so much fun. You have to buy a bucket and not dig for the gems but they have a great set up and each bucket has lots of rocks for the kids to sift and find.

Took my kids years ago when they first opened and enjoyed it. Then took my niece this tear and she had a blast finding and sifting through the dirt. Makes for a fun activity for kids of all ages!

The people running Lucky Lake Mine make the visit great! This is a family-run business with a flair for making gems and geology fun for all. There were several very excited young kids there having a blast finding semi-precious gemstones (and playing in the water)....More

Would not recommend having your best gems cut there. Find a local gem and mineral club to do it. You will get a cheap specimen in place of your better quality stones that they cut for 'free' here.
