This simple, unassuming little park is a perfect uncrowded, place to stop and enjoy more than meets the eye. First off, let me tell you a little about the man who it is named after, Donald J. Leonard, who also has a stud running free...More

Donald Leonard Park is an obscure, quiet little place to stop, unwind, watch sunsets, picnic... or begin a great adventure. A tiny sign at the edge of the marsh says "kayak" on one side, and (as I remember) "canoe" on the other. You can put...More

I only gave this a 4 because it is little more than a field, however, with just a field you can get as creative as you want. There are a few picnic tables to sit and read, or picnic, or watch the water and sunsets....More

This park is a very nice place to bring a picnic dinner and watch the sun go down over the Chincoteague Channel. Several picnic tables, ample parking, and an unobstructed view. Also a good place to launch kayaks!

Lovely new addition to Chincoteague. Spent an afternoon reading in the sunshine. The fishing pier is an enjoyable stroll.

This park is located on the shoreline of Chincoteague Island that has beautiful sunsets. Well maintained landscape. It is located across from school parking lot. Picnic tables and pet friendly. A nice place to exercise your dog.

This is a small park right across the street from the high school that has a view of the bay, there is a picnic table, but that's the only amenity, the parking is basically on grass.

Relax and enjoy the sunset. No crowds and this park has picnic tables and is a terrific place for a sunset picnic. It's not a playing field, beach or nature trail. It is a ringside table to natures light show. ENJOY!

Newly discovered for us in 2014, the Donald Leonard Park on North Main Street is one of those small, but spectacular little places to visit when in Chincoteague! Chances are you haven't been able to miss catching some of the beautiful sunsets while visiting, but...More
