    Gondola ride
We were lucky to get a sunny day in Stowe, so we took the gondola up Mount Mansfield. It’s about a 20-minute ride both ways, and if you choose a clear day the views are incredible; otherwise it’s probably best to wait for better weather. At the top there’s a restaurant (Cliff House- needs reservations), a gift store, restrooms and a few chairs. You can walk down the mountain, rather than taking the gondola down. To do this, when you leave the gondola (facing downhill), turn right. There’s a wide gravel road that’s actually the gondola service road, and it winds downhill all the way to the parking lot. It looked pretty easy, although a little slippery in some places because of the gravel. Another option you’ll see as you walk down the service road is the trailhead for Cliff Trail, on your right as you walk down. This is a difficult trail that goes up to the actual summit of Mount Mansfield, called The Chin. It’s about 0.6 miles one way and another 800 feet up, and for this you may want your hiking boots.

    Smooth & Fast Gondola Ride!
We drove along Stowe's scenic autoroute without any intention riding a gondola to the top of Vermont's most famous mountain. However, when we stopped along the road to view it and saw the gondola transporting tourists to the top, we made a split decision we would not regret. At only 37$ per adult, this is one of the most affordable gondolas I've had the pleasure of riding on. If you've never done one before, I can understand your trepidation in seeing that price tag, but I guarantee you it is such a unique, wondrous experience that gives you a perspective you wouldn't possibly see otherwise. Once at the top of Mt. Mansfield, take a look at the gift shop selling tons of Stowe merchandise, or the waffle hut selling fresh Belgian waffles, or grab a bite to eat at the restaurant, but don't you dare forget to take in the views. Step outside and see the resort town of Stowe at the foot of the mountain, and majestic, green mountains and valleys around you. The beauty that is Vermont in one absolutely breathtaking scene.

Smooth scenic ride up the mountain
We lucked out being there the second week of September as the tourist season was at a lull. Probably since the fall colors hadn't started bursting forth yet. No waiting in line, just us in the gondola and we did luck out with the weather. Sun, no clouds and we could see the top. Didn't luck out so much in the White Mtns of NH. I thought the price was fair at $37ea. For those afraid of heights as I am, the ascent was smooth and very gradual. Not much up there other than the view. We didn't stay for any food.

    Amazing views
Amazing place to spend time hiking and enjoying the views. Went up the gondola and scrambled on trail toward the summit. Also took the toll road and hike along the ridge. Either option well worth the time and can be as strenuous or easy as you want.

Took the gondola ride up to top of mountain. It was a pretty view from the top. Not much else to do except look at view. Not sure it was worth what they charged but at least we tried it

The view is spectacular!! The ride up the mountain in the gondola was pretty smooth for a gondola. They take extra care with stopping to let people off if they have mobility issues and move a little slower.

We drove the auto road and then did the 3 mile round trip hike to the chin. The views were amazing! Our teens loved the hike. Highly recommend this when you visit Stowe.

The views are absolutely breathtaking and the gondola is a super fun way to take in the scenery. Spend some time walking around the mountain and checkout the gift shop for some unique VT finds. Our kids ages 6 to 18 all enjoyed their time quite a bit

Highly recommend the gondola ride to the top! I'm afraid of heights, but it was worth it. (As high as the mountain is, the gondola cars aren't actually all that high off the ground.) On a clear day, it feels like you can see forever. There are quite a few chairs on top where you can sit and enjoy the view as long as you like, and there are bathrooms and a gift shop on top .

The fall foliage views from the summit were amazing. We arrived early and got to see clouds rise off the mountainside.

There are multiple trails near the peak. The terrain and vegetation are interesting, but require some physical exertion and balance.

The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. They happily volunteered assistance.
