We used to do a yearly visit 10 years or more ago, and decided to see the lights again this year. They do a great job at decorating.

We are LDS so this is a meaningful place for us but even if someone isn't a member of our church, it's a beautiful, interesting place to explore. It's free and missionaries will give you some history about the site. Just the story of the...More

If you are Mormon or just into history and religion, the Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial is worth a stop. It is a nice scenic setting with a dramatic driveway to the memorial.

This was a very peaceful place to meditate about my ancestors who lived here. Not much to see, but as always with LDS Church History sites, it is a peaceful place.

Birthplace of the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith. Who gave his life for the Lord 38 years later. Quite, sacred, peaceful place.

Every year around Christmas, the JSB memorial decks itself out with lights - dousing trees, arches and buildings with cheer. You can also step inside for free hot cider and cookies! A free family favorite and tradition!
