Great views from top of Mount Equinox with multi level visitor center at top with restrooms and picnic tables. Easy option is to drive to the top, cost money and road is only open limited times. Better option is to hike to the top, which...More

On a clear day take the drive up Mount Equinox. Experience the sound of silence and views that are like the land before time. About 15 minutes up with parking stops along the way. The Carthusian monks have a visiting center up top which is...More

We drove to the top, pretty easy just a few tight hairpin turns. The views are magnificent. It is just so peaceful and quiet there. There were a few people there, but everyone was talking in whispers. I thought that was very interesting.

Could have walked from town but opted to drive in case the weather changed. Ample parking made it easy. There were various trails with different skill levels. We chose a combination consuming about an hour. We recommend skipping the fitness center and taking a hike...More

A bit rocky but not too difficult. We parked at the Red Gate parking lot and followed that trail to the white trail then (I believe) to a green/black tril to the lookout. Not muddy despite a lot of rain for two days before our...More

The road is fine, but driving up or down the mountain in gear puts a strain on the engine (high rpms at low speed). Riding the brake is what you don't want to do. Watching you speed will limit but not eliminate pumping. It would...More

We hiked around the Orvis Pond area close to the Equinox Resort. Grab a cup of coffee and start your day with some fresh air and an easy hike. This is why you go to Vermont!

This was an intense hike straight up the mountain. Not for those looking for an easy walk. Took us 2 3/4 hours to get up and a challenging 1 1/2 hours coming down ... and we are in shape. But, the views are spectacular up...More

My wife and I decided to avail ourselves of some of the extensive trails behind the Equinox Resort, which are free to the public. Though a hot day, we had a very enjoyable stroll along flower-lined, shady paths with our two Golden Retriever dogs, part...More

Yes you can drive but the parking lot is rather small. Suggest you stop in at the Equinox Hotel and talk to maitre de for directions - it's a very shorty drive to the lot behind the private school. Your parents might be... More

Plenty of bike trails all around here. Try Rte. 30 heading North towards Dorset and bear left on Dorset West Road. A nice pretty level Nike ride of about 6 miles to Dorset Village!

No it is not permitted to swim or canoe on Equinox Pond but you can ask the Concierge at the Equinox Hotel where you could do this nearby!
