This garden is a nice place to visit. It is small and free to visit, but you will get some nice pictures on a sunny day. The gardens are a little run down, but there were workers there maintaining the garden while we were there. It is a nice place to visit, and you probably won't spend long here. But nice scenery, and it is free, but nothing extravagant.

As many reviews have mentioned this is a small garden (compared to most botanical gardens). It's maintained by Utah State University. The blooms were beautiful, and the gardens are well-maintained. The bathrooms were hard to find, but we asked a worker who told us where they were. It's free to see. If you are in the area it's worth a stop, but I would definitely recommend visiting on a day it's not raining.

Ogden is a nice small city but the gardens were just OK. They were relatively small and many of the plants were not yet in bloom in late May. Just having seen the gardens in Steamboat Springs CO (which had much more character), this one was a bit of a letdown. It was on the river trail which was nice.

Not huge, and VERY seasonal. I suspect one should come in June, after blooms begin in earnest. Lovely paths, clean place and there are barbeque grills available. No, this will NEVER be Butchardt Gardens, but for Ogden, very nice.

I suppose I could have done more research, but in my quest to fill up an afternoon before a red-eye out of SLC I decided to trek out here, only to find hardly anything growing, the bathrooms closed (which led to me making an emergency run to Starbucks down the street), and no-one really around (though the adjacent bike path was busy)
That said, in season it's probably pretty nice.

Since I'm an avid gardener and visit botanical gardens whenever I can, I had been looking forward to visiting the Ogden Botanical Gardens for some time. Business in Ogden finally gave me a chance. But the visit was disappointing.
This garden is clearly a student-project kind of place: the various garden areas are each small and minimal, and some are barely worthy of their designation. The Japanese garden, for instance, has a red and black wooden trellis, rickety bridge, and gate of sorts--all amateurishly constructed of worn, painted 2x4s and plywood--and those are the only signs that the garden is Japanese. It has no water features, no traditional Japanese garden elements except a concrete lantern, and no real Japanese plantings. And it is smaller than an average condominium back yard. The vegetable garden is a small enclosure with a few raised beds and your usual vegetables, all without signs, labels, or instructional materials of any kind. The cottage garden is just a short trail amid shade trees and perennials. Only the rose garden is worthy of the name, but just a few of the roses were labeled. The entrance has some pretty perennials (though nothing out of the ordinary) and there are some nice pavilion and lawn areas for picnicking and relaxing, and it's pleasant enough for wandering around in, so I would say it is a nice park. And it's free. But it isn't a real botanical garden, by any stretch of the imagination.

This is a great place for beautiful gardens near the mouth of Ogden Canyon. Take pictures of the gardens or even pose for family pictures. Sometimes there are musical events, wedding receptions, or other events here. The Ogden River Parkway runs passed the gardens and is great for walking, running, and cycling. Parking is free.

My wife and I went to the garden this afternoon, and the opening display at the parking lot was extremely colorful, with a wide variety of flowering plants. We walked through the botanical garden, and the garden would be served by having labels on the plants. That would be my only suggestion for improvement.
And, by the way, the garden is free of charge to enter.

Flowers, flowers, flowers a lot of amazing flowers. The garden is a nice peaceful place for a picnic or a walk. It is also a great place for photo-shooting.

This is such a great place. Peaceful walks, or a group picnic too. Photography is a popular thing to do as is flying kites in the field next door. Great times here for all ages.

What are your hours/admission? Are you open on sundays?
Gail1946

Yes, they are open on Sunday. It is a small, but pretty garden where you just park and enter. You can take a (flat) walk along the river which brings you to another park area. No charge involved. The building may be closed on Sunday - not sure, but the garden is open. Everything you need to know on their FB page.
Is there a photography fee if you wanted to get your family pictures (or any other kind of pictures) done here?
Also wondering if dogs are allowed if on a leash.

Yes on Leash usually had bags for pickup .
If there is a wedding going on, can you still go through the garden and take pictures?
