Rink is too small and not enough people working there. Not impressed with the way they usher everyone in at the same time, free for all to get to the 4 people handing out skates and a guy on a microphone that should have been helping to hand out skates.

We had family visiting from Belgium and they all had a great experience. We did feel it was a bit too crowded but still had a great time.

We usually go to the Aerodrome, but dad had an appointment in the Woodlands, so I took the kids here to kill a few hours.

Was it fun? Yes. Did the kids enjoy it? Yes. Was it a terrible experience? No. But as far as ice skating goes, you'll have a much better experience if you drive to the Aerodrome, Galleria or pretty much anywhere else.

The good: It's not nearly as cold as large rinks. The parking is good. The tables and chairs right by the ice are nice. Kids liked the hot dogs.

The bad: ice got choppy quickly. Very little staff, so no one is enforcing rules. There is one narrow spot to get off and on the ice, so there is a constant bottleneck, especially when little kids need to step onto the ice slowly. The bathrooms were about half out of order. The walkers are trash.

The ugly: The skates should have been thrown out years ago and border on unsafe. Every pair we saw had rips, tears, holes, and shredding laces. My daughter had to try a few pairs because several were missing the metal prongs that allow you to tighten around the ankles. (Many kids were out there wobbling around on loose skates, which isn't safe.) I wear a women's 10, but the only skates larger than women's 9 were super still ancient leather skates with no padding. When I started getting bruises on my ankles, I asked for men's hockey skates. They were more padded, but I was given two left skates.

Overall, we did skate so the kids were happy. But it's nowhere near what I expected from the Woodlands, and I could not recommend it to anyone until the skates are replaced.

So much fun! My husband and daughter and I spend an afternoon skating here and loved it. Our skates were fine. Yes, if you were going to skate all the time, I would tell you to invest in your own skates. Otherwise it's a great little outing!

The skates need to be replaced! What a horrible experience trying to skate with workout skates with broken laces. I expect so much more from the Woodlands Ice Skating!

We have been going to the Ice Rink for many years. My son's birthday is December 26th and we have had several awesome birthday parties at the establishment. We still enjoy it but over the last 5 years the service has gone down, the skates have gotten older and older while the prices are getting more and more expensive. I believe this is the first year parents and grands, aunts and uncles - basically us old folks - have to pay just to get in to watch our children. I'm afraid at this rate it won't be long before this is an event we will not longer frequent!

Very easy to get tickets and rentals. The Safety Attendant was great. BUT..... the rental skates were as old as dirt, torn up, broken laces, and I've skated on ponds that were smoother. This ice was like skating on pebbles! Huge divets, large frozen mounds, and just plain scary to skate on, and I grew up skating, so it's not like I don't have experience. It was not a horrible day spent with the Granddaughters, but it wasn't as wonderful as it could have been.

With our reservations made in advance, checkin was a breeze for our skate on the first Monday of the season. It was not crowded. There were noticeable measures in place to manage germs due to COVID-19 (large hand sanitizer bottles at each table, table surfaces being sprayed down, plexiglass, etc.). The family had a great time and the price is reasonable for what turns out to be about 1.5 hours of skating ($13.50 for admission and skate rental). Note that new this year due to the need for reservations, is the $1 admission fee even for observers. Concessions are fairly priced in that they are far below movie theater concession pricing but more than the grocery store.
Our only complaint was how speedily we were ushered out at the end of our skate session due to the next session starting soon. I appreciate the need for turnover but one of the staff members was a bit curt with us (and we were actively readying for departure; not lollygagging). Overall, I recommend the experience for a nice community outing for kids, families, and couples alike.

A big come down for me since I am use to Olympic size rinks. I was there early Saturday and on first session. It opens at 10am but the rink management does not realize that it take 15 minutes for skaters to put on skates so skaters lost 15 minutes of ice time. The ice was fine since it was the first session, not chopped up. I suggest that rink management open 15 minutes early on the first session so that skates have time to put on skates.

My daughter wanted to go ice skating as her Birthday Experience (in place of a party). The Woodlands Ice Rink seemed less like a hockey arena than some other places in a 2 hour radius from us. We went two weekends before Christmas, so with the mall traffic, we fully expected parking to be an issue, which it was. We decided to park in the mall parking lot in between the mall and the ice rink so that we only had to worry about parking once. My only real complaint would be the amount of time it took from when we got inside to actually be ice skating on the ice. We stood in one line to buy tickets and then waited again to get skates. There was no system or line to get the skates, we just stood there until someone helped us (sort of like a bar...everyone up at the counter hoping to be the next one asked to be helped). There are tables that can be rented, but if you forget to do that like we did, it's hard to feel like you have "your" spot. They have lockers for rent, but we didn't notice that until after we were already skating.

Overall, it was fun and we'd go again, but it DEFINITELY feels like it's run by teenagers.
