Many years ago this was a great, busy and vibrant attraction. Now sadly, it is run-down with many business units closed or in disrepair. The upper tier is closed off as too dangerous. It is sad to see what this has become as it was a local facility to rival the Yumbo centre if local people did not want to travel up the hill to the Centre.

I came to Gran Canaria in the early 80’s and hadn’t returned until last week. I was extremely disappointed to see the area of Playa del Ingles in such a state of neglect and so run down . It would be easy to put this down to the pandemic but it has obviously been over a much longer period of time. The Kasbah shopping centre as I remember it was a buzzing hub of shops and bars but things have changed drastically.
The local government needs to invest in this area and help these small businesses and not just concentrate on the upmarket Meloneros along the beach. It is very tacky and in need of some TLC as is the sea front.

I can honestly say this centre is abandoned. It's not just Covid or the electricity problems. You just know by the lack of care and maintenance. I mean why bother if every store is closed with notices saying for sale/rent or they've moved to the Yumbo centre? It's been 16 years since we were last here, and although it was never lively during the day, you could have a leisurely stroll browsing the tatty souvenirs and having a cheap lunch. We used to have ice cream and watch funny videos in the cafe on the second floor. Then burger king took over the seating area. Now burger king is gone as well. It's never a good sign if a big brand pulls out of an area. I hope the town council invests in it again as playa del Ingles deserves its own centre for families, couples etc. Yumbo is the gay scene always has been. Let that be there but everyone else shouldn't have to suffer the loss of investment to one area. I've no problems with gay scene fair play, many of my friends are gay. You can party hard! All I'm saying is why let other areas of maspalomas fall away to improve just one area? Back in early 2000s the Yumbo was like Kasbah is now, you never ventured too far into it, and never went at night. Here's hoping to a more balanced and welcoming tourist experience in shopping and eating venues in the future here. Such a shame

On our visit, most of the bars, restaurants, and shops were closed, probably permanently.

Next to the shopping center, you can find a striking-looking church Templo Ecumenico El Salvador.

This shopping centre is run down but not as much as the others. Look ok at night. if you want cheap and cheerful, maybe a bit of Shisha in the Arabian bars then this is a great place. And I don't think its "the gays" that have dragged down Gran Canaria, maybe the covid/pandemic? If you don’t like gays go one of the many other Canary Islands.

The shopping centre is abandoned and closed down. There are a few bars still open but the whole atmosphere was a bit depressing
