If you like birds, Yaxhá National Park is one of the many hot spots for birding in the lowland of Guatemala. Hire an expert birder from Peten Birders Club, they are certified by Audubon and know the region very well. We can also arrange tours...More

Yaxha lake is gorgeous, especially from atop the large ruins. It is not so crowded here so you can really enjoy the surrounding jungle. Oropendula birds nest here and they are amazing to see.

Really loved that site, it is probably less touristic than Tikal but quieter too. The restored main plaza is just incredible and the sunset on top of a pyramid is just great. Really a must to visit

This area contains the most important sites of the Peten Maya... Yaxha on the Lake, Naranjo nearly as large o=as Tikal and Nakum accessible by horse, hike, and by vehicle north of Yaxha. Very important location with exposure to the environments of the Maya forest.

This park is more pristine with less people than Tikal. The visit to the island of Topoxte was amazing. Our group of 4 were as (probably more) interested in the flora and fauna as in the ruins. This island was a trove of all the...More
