A stop to see planes/airport

It is a nice open view of DFW airport. You can hear live radio transmissions from the control tower.

Watch and listen to the airport operations. Grab a sandwich and have some lunch if you're an aviation buff. I wish more airports had a facility as nice as this!

It's always amazed me how planes land and take off. Even with technology at hand, we can see the excellent talents that pilots and co-pilots have when weather is involved, especially when it's windy. Watching them adjust their approach from "straight forward to almost sideways...More

Great place to take a picnic lunch and the kids to watch commercial airplanes land and take-off. Speaker broadcasts Control tower conversation.

It gets pretty hot during the summer, but you can sit in your car with the A/C going and watch the planes land and take off. I think one arrives about every 30 seconds! There is a fun fountain for the "kids" in your group...More

Yes, I have seen several trucks back into the parking spaces, so they sit in the back and are facing the action. Photographers seem to especially like this arrangement.

In general, if the winds are out of the south (blowing from the south to the north), planes will be landing near the viewing area on 18R. If it is a light travel day, take offs and landings will be slow. The best times for... More
