Found this park on TripAdvisor, pictures looked really nice so we decided to visit. Very disappointed! No waterfalls, nothing tranquil about it. Park actually looks run down. Maybe we visited at a bad time but I wouldn't plan to visit again.

If you already happen to be in the area, it is barely worth a quick walk-through. Definitely do not make a special trip to visit this park. Tranquility Park was disappointing. Definitely nothing special. Fountains were mostly dry with trash in them. Transients hang out here. Although I kept my distance and they did not bother me.

Tired, Abandoned & People Sleeping Rough

We recently visited the park, while spending the weekend in Houston. I was looking forward to visiting the park because I find the Apollo missions very interesting. We arrived at the park on a hot October Sunday afternoon. But unfortunately the park seemed to have been abandoned by the city. The famous fountains were all switched off, empty and almost looked derelict. There were some very strange looking characters who appeared to be living rough in the park, they seemed to be under the influence of drugs and where using loud very foul language. This does not create a safe feeling for tourists so we left rather quickly without having a decent look around.

This used to be so beautiful

But I must be honest... Sorry if this sounds political but the truth is this simple. Houston has sooo many glorious sights that have just gone to ground. When voter;s vote against any taxes to keep these places of beauty up, they hurt the city and themselves. This area contains a lot of homeless, trash and the water doesn't even run a good deal of the time. It's the same way all over the city.
THERE IS NO ZONING IN HOUSTON so you can go from beauty to utter chaos and trash in a block. If you plan a trip here be prepared for homeless begging on every corner of every street be it North, South, East or West.

Don't bother

This place is overrated. It's not well maintained. There are a lot of homeless people here and a lot of kids who skateboard and smoke here. Don't bother wasting your time. You won't be tranquil watching your back the whole time.

Embarrassment to our city

The city has let this park become a homeless campground. The fountains have been empty for more than a year, the sidewalks are covered with bird poop, and there are dozens of homeless living there. Do not go, do not even put it on your list!

Old and run down.

My boyfriend and I went sight-seeing in Houston while visiting his sister. He is an Architecture major and it looked interesting so we decided to stop. The park was warn down with garbage everywhere and the whole water fountain design was WATERLESS and dirty like it had been waterless for a while. This was a large letdown from the picture currently posted.

Don't bother going

The "park" is a disgrace, run-down, dirty, no water in the pools and fountain and a gathering place for the homeless. Would have been nice enough when new and well maintained, but now it is little more than an eyesore

We could not leave fast enough!

Wow! This was the LEAST tranquil place in Houston. We made a special point to walk through the park, instead of other activities. BIG mistake. There were a lot of people hanging, they looked like they were up to no good, so we stayed clear. But there was one woman screaming at one of the men and it was a little intimidating and weird because we didn't know what was going to come next (knock down drag out fight?) Any way, all the fountains were off and the tubs were empty. It was smelly and ugly. Could not leave fast enough. Maybe they will fix it up for the summer. Let's hope so.

Pretty place

Very peaceful during a quick lunch break. Just avert your eyes from the guy peeing around the corner. Certain parts are safer than others, obviously. Stick with the herd...or at least near it.

Homeless city

The fountains have been dry for over two years. This is now a homeless camp. Last time I walked through here I witnessed two meth heads beating another homeless man with skateboards. This is not a safe park.

The photos on the page must be very old, in August 2016 all the ponds were empty and no fountains working. Keep walking past this park.
