I thought this park was very pretty, even on a cold winter day. A needed green space with lots of skyscrapers around, so expect to see a lot of people using it.

What a great park! The views are awesome and I learned a lot of history about the area that I was not aware of. We took our dog and explored for a few hours. Will return!

Love free museums! This outdoor park has several historic buildings (homes, church, outbuildings) original to Houston. Each building displays a QR code which directs you to either an audio or written description of the property.

Although we did walk into the actual museum building, we opted not to tour it. I believe the entrance fee was about $10 per person. They also offer guided tours of the several buildings on site for +- $15 (which included the small museum). The helpful young fellow at the museum was able to give us a map and some excellent suggestions of what to see and do in Houston. Most importantly, how to get down to the underground tunnel system that the business people use.

We spent well over an hour here - learning about some of the original, bigwig residents of Houston.

Highly recommend!

There are several timed tours throughout the day. We waited in the gallery for the 2.30 tour and we’re given a tour of 3 houses. Kean was a knowledgeable guide and we enjoyed the experience.

I went to Sam Houston Park for the first time in 2021, where Day of the dead festival takes places. I wore my costume there in order to celebrate. But no, my phone got small storage. So, I better record it on my tablet someday.

The party is great, the music, the performances, and Catrina concerts are way better than ever. I rather be going back there and continue my expedition.

This is a very interesting urban park space that features some historical structures in the grounds. We were here for the annual art show, and took a little time to explore the park.
Seeing the old structures with the skyscrapers behind them is unusually distracting, but makes for some attractive photos to juxtaposition the old and the new.
We did not have time to get inside the museum, but plan to do so in the future. I should note that some sections of the park are near/under Interstate 45 and there is some traffic noise.

A very nice park in Downtown Houston with old Victorian houses and beautiful fountain— My wife got to take photos of the ginormous skyline in the background—- There was an option for a self guided tour but we didn’t do it, required using your phone with GPS and calling a service— Quite surprised there weren’t more people here but had the park basically all to ourselves

We really liked the large expanse of lawn, huge trees and multiple gardens inside this green getaway in downtown Houston.

We found free parking in the Historical Society across the street. Good to combine both places in one visit.

The park was good for picnics, visiting historic buildings and following a jogging path.

It’s quiet and attractive, except for the occasional homeless sleeping at a bench. The area behind the Heritage Society Museum is very pretty and has a statue of John Connolly, the Texas governor who was in the car with Kennedy when JFK got killed. I assume he’s from Houston, there was no signage to explain his statue there.

We visited Sam Houston park during our time in Houston and it was a nice green space in the middle of the city. There are numerous historic houses in the park which are interesting to look at, and there are a few small ponds with statues and water features.

It is a nice place to come for an hour or so when the weather is nice, and it's free to go to. There is also a visitor centre which provides some information about the history of the houses and the park.

Overall, I would recommend visiting if you're exploring Houston city as it is centrally located and it's a nice green space to have a stroll.
