Here about 6-8 times per year. Obviously great beer list & good food, but if you are not a recognizable local...service can be very “iffy”. Will still return whenever in the area, but wish my empty beer glass would be a sign I need help!

We stopped in here for a late lunch on a weekend and grabbed a table out on the patio. The views were really nice!
Service is just so-so here. We noticed lots of dirty tables all around us. It also took a while to get menus, silverware, and to place our order. With that being said - our waitress (Olivia) was very pleasant - service was just really slow and inconsistent.
The beer flights were very nice. There were several to choose from and there seemed to be something for everyone. The chip basket with salsa & queso was very good as an appetizer. The Duke Burger (BBQ and jalapenos) and the Turkey Meltdown were both enjoyable sandwiches. The German potato salad was especially nice and a welcome exchange from the normal fries. Portions were quite large and all the food tasted fresh and really good.
Overall, we had a very nice lunch - just don't expect much over a very casual, laid-back kind of atmosphere. Food gets an A-, service gets a C+, the view gets an A+.

My wife and I stopped in this evening and sat down at a booth, and began to review the menus. We sat there for 10 minutes, and not one of the staff so much as gave us a nod. So, we got up and left, last time we will make that mistake! Life is too short to waste time in a place that doesn't want your business!

I have been to this flying saucer several times, the service has never five star but never as incompetent as this visit. It was the first night of the NFL draft and all the restaurants in the area were packed including flying saucer.
I sat at the bar looking at the drinks menu for at least five minutes as what looked to be the only bartender working chatted to people on either side of me, never speaking to me or making eye contact. As she was chatting to the people seated next to me someone walked up behind me and asked for a drink "sure" was her instant reply. I looked at her and said really at witch point she suddenly said "oh I didn't see you sitting there"
I got up and walked out.
Be warned

Food is always good. Great selection of beer. Right on the lake next to Bass Pro Shops and Hooters. Jon the club, we did! Like the wings, burgers, and chili in a bread bowl.

Great views and always a good beer to choose from. Still getting used to the new menus but still a place to visit for a light meal, good beer (never light!), and a pleasant lakeside location.

I'm lucky. I live within 15 minutes of the Lake Flying Saucer. I've been coming here off and on for years. I've always enjoyed the beer selections - both draft and bottle. And if you can't find a brew you like here - you never will. The selection rotates so don't assume that beer will be here the next time!
The Saucer has nightly specials - such as Monday Night Pint Night, Tuesday Trivia, Glass and Special Tappings along with daily lunch specials. I want to repeat this is FIRST a pub. And that being said, they serve pub food with some German flair. The burgers are very good, nicely sized and you have a small selection of sides. My favorite - The Reuben with the jalapeno slaw. If you plan on eating the Cheese Fries with a Surprise, you need a friend to help. Two of us could barely finish it. All in all the food is very good and reasonably priced. I love the bratswurst pretzel. I did not care for the shrimp basket or the fish. Serves me right - stick with the basics. Their salads are good and I usually get a side salad with the jalapeno vinegarette.
The layout is simple. Open areas with tables. There is a large lovely area to sit outside and enjoy the lake. And on weekends they have an outdoor bar as well. The TVs are geared to all sports and that is a plus for us. The only smoking is outdoors. Never had a problem with that until last night with dead center of the upper deck sat 4 guys - 3 smoking cigars and 1 a pipe. The wind was blowing in off the lake so it got into everyone's faces. It was NOT pleasant trying to sip your brew with a mouthful of cigar smoke. Before my food arrived, I moved up wind of them. Not surprising is when I got home - my clothes and hair still reeked of cigar and pipe smoke. Not cool guys. Not cool at all. Even my server wouldn't stand next me to to talk as everytime the wind blew, she stepped back.
I do not feel this is a place for kids. Despite the fact people bring them of all ages. One of our trips was ruined do to a screaming baby. At 8 pm at night. And with the open seating you can't get away from it. There isn't anything to keep them occupied unless they are outside trying to get into the fountain. I"m sorry folks, I know some of you don't have an option but please, this is a BAR. They do not allow under 21 after 9 pm but if you are already there, I've seen kids there as late as 10 pm.
All in all - this is a excellent place for beers of all varieties, ciders and meads. They have a limited bar but still can server most of the basic alcoholic drinks. They do NOT server frozen drinks or Margaritas You can get those next door.
If you like, join the UFO Club and collect plates. Just look up when you get there. You'll understand what I mean.

This is craft and import beer heaven. If you want 5 star food then try a 5 star restaurant. Pub food is just that. Pub food. I like the selection and the only 2 menu items I ever order are the Space Club and the Dipster. The Space Club is a club sandwich and the Dipster is an Au Jus delight. Some locations don't carry the Space Club anymore and it is a shame. Do yourself a favor and try this place at least once in your life. If you want you can even join the club! I have been to 5 different Saucers but this one is my favorite. My review is the same for all save here. The patio area overlooks the lake and is very nice. Our service was wonderfully entertaining.
