The Fort Worth Stockyards Historical District has several pay-to-park lots. The Stockyards Museum is in the Exchange Building. I went to the museum a few minutes after its posted opening time and there was no sign of it being ready to open so I went to another museum. When I returned, the Stockyards Museum was open. The staff was very friendly (if not punctual) and there were many interesting artifacts on display. There is a gift shop. I would not recommend a special trip just for this museum, but there are several small museums in the district that, as a group, would make the trip worthwhile.

We went January 10, 2022 and the sign on the door said “closed for the week to protect our volunteers from Covid”. I completely understand but a sign on the outside door would have been nice since we were at the stock yards on Sunday when they are closed and made a special trip back just for the museum. Even better would be updated info on the website.

We visited the museum while walking through the Stockyards and waiting for the cattle drive. It's relatively small but is loaded with the history and memorabilia from the Stockyards. It took us less than an hour but you could spend more time if you read everything. The staff were very nice.

My husband and I stopped here in early February. Lots of interesting artifacts from the active stockyards time. Native American items. A wedding dress that brought bad luck to all who wore it. They had some books of local interest. The people working at the museum were extremely helpful and well informed

Don't let the small size deter you from checking out this museum. It is filled with local history. There are a lot of photos and exhibits to see. It will give you a good sense of what the area was like back in the day. The small $2 admissions fee is worth it.

For $2 it’s well worth it. Small museum within the Livestock and Exchange building. Bring cash, drop your money in the box and enjoy. So much stuff in a small space. Lots of arrowheads,
old “timey” guns, tv, radio, typewriters etc. lots of artifacts from the Stockyards! Small gift shop.

We enjoyed it, took us about an hour. Wasn’t many people around while we were visiting so that helped. More then 20 people would make it very cramped!

We have been wanting to visit Fort Worth. We visited the Stock yard museum. A lot of history and love the western feel of the area. Kid friendly. If you are in the area it’s a must stop. We enjoyed our time there. Family oriented entertainment.

Stumbled upon the museum and enjoyed stopping in. Eclectic displays and some fun souvenirs. Be sure to grab the address at the register and be a Cattle Pen Pal by sending a post card from home. Love that idea!

I really enjoyed my visit here! Admission is $2 and it is worth it! The museum is small, it has a few historic artifacts and stories that relate to Fort Worth. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures that date back at least 70 years! The museum takes about 30 minutes and the building has public restrooms.
