I visit the city of Dallas. And this is where I need to be. This is where Dallas's cultural history is valuable.
The museum of culture and history is very nice. I like this place.

When I was in Dallas, I took the JFK tour. I saw this beautiful building from the outside. Unfortunately it was under construction. I will check it out if and when I go back.

Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. There were sections that addressed major aspects of Dallas and each section had an excellent collection of artifacts along with a timeline to see the growth of Dallas from nothing. I came here after The Sixth Floor Museum At Dealey Plaza and as much as I loved that Museum, this was a nice change in that it wasn't crowded and you could actually take your time looking at things and not be bouncing off people or having baby strollers running over your feet.

The building itself is beautiful. There is a visitors center in the museum that has tons of info for Dallas and other parts of Texas. It didn’t seem like much of a museum

Having lived in the area for many years and watching this building being renovated, we decided it was time to visit. The building itself is quite a structure and the museum is extremely interesting. There are displays on the first floor regarding the building and it’s history, renovation, etc. as well as a temporary exhibit. The museum is on the second floor and divided into 4 time periods. Obviously it is important to start at the beginning however if very early history does not thrill you, you can visit any time period you wish. We started at the beginning and worked through all 4 time periods. We found all to be interesting and learned many things about Dallas and the surrounding area. I would suggest following up with a visit to the Dallas Heritage Village which is located approximately on the site where Dallas began and is a representation of old Dallas.

As a Dallas transplant, I wanted to learn more about the city and surrounding area. The Old Red Museum has some great exhibits about the history of Dallas, including many of the people, places, and events that have made it what it is today. I was impressed by how the museum had exhibits on all aspects of Dallas life, from utilities to media to religion. It's amazing to see how far the city has come! Whether visiting or living in town, check out the visitor's center downstairs for some great tips on new places to see around Dallas!

This is a great stop if you are visiting downtown Dallas. You can not miss the building and we found plenty of parking in the area. Although this building is on the tour of several of the tour opportunities we wanted to have more time visiting the displays. More could have been said about each display, but there is plenty to see. Allow at least one to two hours for this event.
