One of the most magnificent of Britain's castles is the "birth place of the Tudor Dynasty." You can climb the 80ft Great Keep, descend into a pre-historic cave and look down into a prisoner in a medieval dungeon. There is also a cafe and gift shop. During school holidays there are falconry displays, historic re-enactments and family entertainment. The main exhibition rooms display models and weaponry as well as telling the story of the history of the castle. You can also visit the room that King Henry VII the founder of the Tudor Dynasty was born.

Many will visit Pembroke Castle to explore Welsh and English history and in particular matters relating to Henry 7th. For me, with none too many pegs on which to hang such historical facts, this was just the ultimate castle experience. For a most modest admission...More

We spent a lovely weekend walking some of the glorious coastal paths. This Coach House in Pembroke made a wonderful base. Lovely hotel, quiet position, good food and very helpful staff.

It's not easy finding dog friendly outings so this was one of our main reasons for visiting Pembroke Castle but it turned out really well. The castle has obvious historic interest and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour, which he found very informative as...More

Obviously a historically fascinating place, and in a great location. To be honest it might be best observed from outside, though the entry fee is perfectly reasonable. Not ruined with massive plaques, colourful Disney-style addages (except the massive map painted on the floor) or ridiculous...More

Great value for money, £6. We expected to stay for about 2 hours and spent 4 , the only reason we left was the castle was closing. Take a picnic sit on the grass and take in the splender of the castle, they even do...More

Had a drive from Bristol just for this. There are guided tours twice a day - do not miss it. Our guide (Howard) knows the history of Pembroke back to 11th century in hourly detail - his basic tour is 1.5hrs but he said (and...More

It was nice to see the castle, but personally was a little disappointed and the steps really scared our 4 year old.

The tour of Pembroke Castle was very informative and suitable for a wide range of age groups. The remains of this castle are more extensive than most. Well worth a visit if you're touring Pembrokeshire.

This was a brilliant castle to visit. The children had such a blast. Our eldest is 11 and he went on about it the most. It’s not for the faint hearted mind. You can go to nearly any part of it you like, not many...More
