I was bought the 'walking with hawks' experience as a gift. It was a lovely afternoon spent with Alex and two harris hawks. We started off in a meadow which led to a woodland and ended up in the grounds of the botanical gardens. It was a lovely experience to handle these magnificent birds. Alex was very knowledgeable and answered any questions. I would highly recommend this experience.

I booked a half day experience flying birds of prey, after visiting the centre within the Botanical gardens of Wales. We could choose 3 birds which we wanted to fly, along with the an owl, but that would be the one who wanted to come out on the day! We started the flying with Vogue, a Steppe eagle, in the meadow. She was quite a character. We went on a walk with Eddie , a Brahminykite, through the Botanical gardens. He showed off his fishing and catching food in midair skills , flying from to and fro. Mally, a Harris hawk, came for a woodland walk with us. The owl, who agreed to come out, was Allan, a Barn owl. An absolute delight. Alex, the falconer, was a wealth of information and it was obvious that the birds and the centre were his life. His commitment to the birds welfare shone through. We stayed to watch the 3 public displays held at the centre , they were awe inspiring. The presenting falconers were a mine of information, not only on the birds but on conservation of different species. You cannot fail to have an amazing day, it really is worth booking yourself a treat. The owl experience at Picton Castle is next on our list.

This was a birthday gift , and what a gift it was. We had the woodland hawk walk experience where we spent over 90mins in the company of an experienced falconer and on this occasion a Harries Hawk. We were able to fly the hawk after a short period of instruction by Rob and to see the hawk fly and land back again on your hand was an amazing experience. Adding to the day was the information passed on by Rob about falconry and the relationship between him and the hawk was beautiful to see. She obviously trusted him to allow us as complete strangers to handle her when instructed by him to do so..Unforgettable experience...going back soon and whilst there you must visit the British Bird of Prey centre at the National Botanical Gardens.. well worth the entry fee just to see the golden eagle in flight close up...

What a fabulous experience! Three hours of flying in the grounds of the National Botanic Gardens. Never thought I'd get up close with an amazing and intelligent vulture (Gomez), and look a Black Kite in the eye. Highly recommend this experience, great value, fun, informative, and Alex and Emma are a great couple and a pleasure to meet. We've come away with memories that will last a lifetime. We will be booking again.

I flew the birds and my parents came as spectators. They were a really welcoming couple. Their passion and enthusiasm is evident in everything that they do. They were happy to talk about what they did and the birds in great detail which I found to be very interesting and informative. The birds were stunning and it was a great privilege to be able to get up close to them- especially their long-eared owl! They each had a unique and cheeky personality that was adorable to observe. A day out that will never be forgotten. I will definitely be booking again!
