Yesterday (Monday) Hubby and me enjoyed a stroll (and a sit) in this small public park. This piece of land used to belong to the Rydal Penrhos private school. The area has paths, lawns, ornamental flower beds and a superb war memorial (see separate review). The water feature wasn't in operation when we visited. We found the open space relaxing and peaceful despite it being next to a busy main road.

On Tuesday afternoon, Hubby and I were walking along the main Conway Road passed the construction site on Queens Drive when we noticed a tall bronze statue standing proudly on a plinth. It was a war memorial originally unveiled on 11.11.1922 . It is of a WW1 British soldier in full uniform. We sat quietly on one of the black metal benches where the backrest had been cut out to depict war images. We admired the backdrop of the Rydal private school and St. Johns methodist church. However, because it was out of season, the flowerbed displays were wilting and the fountain was not working.

These public gardens are a real credit to the local Town Council of the Bay of Colwyn. Throughout the year they are a mass of colour and charm making a perfect place to chill out and relax. The backdrop of Rydal School's main hall provides an imposing setting in the heart of Colwyn Bay
