Explore the cultural and natural history of the Mid-South through exciting exhibits, dioramas, and audio-visuals. Trace Memphis' development from the time of Spanish explorers through the Civil War and the yellow fever epidemics. Science and History in Memphis
May 2021
My family and I visited Pink Palace Museum in May 2021. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. They are opened Wednesday to Saturday from 10:30am-5pm and Sunday from 12pm-5pm. The tickets for admission into the museum is $15 for adults (13-59), $14 Sr (60+), $10 for Child (3-12), and Free for child (0-2). The Pink Palace Museum is wheelchair accessible. Parking Lot is free to park. Cameras are allowed inside the museum. I would allow 2 hours to tour the museum. It is self-guided.
Some of the Exhibits include:
Natural History of Mid-South (skeletons and skulls, mammals, animatronic T-Rex, meteorites, dinosaurs, and geology).

Cultural History of the Mid-South (First Americans, Yellow Fever, and Memphis Neighborhood Past and Present).

Pink Palace Mansion (Piggly Wiggly replica, architecture and art of the mansion, Clyde Parke Miniature Circus, and specimens from the original 1930’s museum).

The Giant Theater and the Planetarium both are extra admissions.

Great displays
Sep 2021
So sorry they have changed the name of this to MOSH. As a child, I visited the Pink Palace a lot and have fond memories. Decided to visit about 50 years later and still enjoyed it. I loved that the Piggly Wiggly and the carved circus are still there. We had a knowledgeable volunteer share some information with us.

This is a rare find

In an area with Graceland and Beale street, this place might be overlooked but, it is such an amazing place with an incredible story. Take the time to visit.

Interesting but Dated
Nov 2020
This at one time was an incredible museum. I would say that many of the displays are older with some aging more gracefully than others. It has lots of content which made spending 3-4 hours there most enjoyable.

Great First Impressions!
Mar 2020 • Couples
Came here on a Sat and as a summary we were very impressed. Full disclosure, we only spent 45 min exploring and had to leave for another engagement, but we were able to see the highlights which left a lasting impression!

This museum has exhibits along with movie theatre so there is something for everyone. Currently their is an exhibit for the race to the South Pole outlining the Norwegian and English exploration teams and their historic trek! It was mapped out so well and shows the story from beginning to end. Absolutely marvelous and I highly recommend!

I will be sure to post an update when I get to go again, but for now it is 5 circles! Oh, please consider season pass as this museum is part of a network of museums that a season pass will get you in to multiple places. It was worth it for my family of 5 to purchase. Cheers!

Great for passing time as you go through the past.

I really enjoyed this museum, there is alot of effort in the preservation the the items on display. The only thing that was a bummer was there were a few exhibits being worked on( for future exhibits) that I would have liked to see while I am in town but that did not ruin the experience.

We had no idea what we were going to see and were very pleased by the condition of this 1920's mansion, the displays and the staff we met and talked to.

A varied presentation - science, cultural and local history
Nov 2019
If you are in Memphis on a Tuesday, this is one of several museums that offers free admission. I didn't initially understand that this is a whole complex, owned by the city of Memphis. It grew from the acquisition of the partially completed mansion that was commissioned in the 1920's by Clarence Saunders, the Piggly Wiggly magnate who lost it in bankruptcy. It is now part of a very large campus that houses a planetarium, IMAX 3D theatre and the museum. It is possible to go to just one of the attractions or all of them. We only did the museums which include natural history, cultural history specific to Memphis and the South and an eclectic collection inside the "Pink Palace." The latter includes mansion's history and that of Saunders. It also houses the Clyde Parke Circus upstairs - a miniature mechanical circus created by a famed modeler. There are interactive circus themed games for children, as well.

They have some stuff you would expect to have in a natural history museum. But they did have some unique displays from local collectors and area specific exhibits. We where there for 3 hours there is lot to see.
