We called into the Tourist Information Office and the Museum was attached. We spotted a large gaudy hat which we recognised as a Hobby Hoss and had last seen on Mayday in 2019 in Padstow and as a consequence we got into conversation with the the staff and they explained the link with Padstow. They gave us a huge amount of information about the history of the village especially in respect of the mining heritage of the area and its strong links with Cardiff and South Wales just across the Bristol channel. It was a pleasure to visit and left us feeling we wanted to learn more.

Run by an army of volunteers who are very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local area has they live here.
Set on three floors and fully accessible for everyone.
A learning area with magnifying glasses and microscopes to look at items in detail including what looked like sheep teeth and partial jaw.
Local history including old farm tools, silver & lead mine tools.
History of the harbour/beach area.
Even a plaque from the Guinness book of records for holding the Longest street party for the 2002 jubilee.
Also a craft area upstairs where they hold crafty days for local children.
Set back off the high street in cross street and only £2 per person. Will need cash as they don’t have a card machine at the present time. Nearest cash point is in the high street at the premier shop.

Lovely little museum situated in the heart of Combe Martin. The museum is on 3 floors and well laid out. There is a lift if required. Friendly and informative volunteers.

Adults £2.50, Concessions: £1.50 and for accompanied children there is no charge. This is a nice little local history museum with several exhibits and information on show.
You get a good picture of what Combe Martin was like a very long time ago. The 'Sail Loft' is upstairs and you can spend quite a while looking round.
Of course all museums have this layout now, and they're all run by similar types. We just wondered if all the staff at this museum are all local seniors, and if they are more diverse than we saw on our visit.

Do go to see this museum. The information and artefacts are so well presented and so interesting. There are interactive items for children, loads of memorable items for others and the history of the village and village life is fascinating.

Small museum. Mostly old tat and junk, but they do make an effort to tell the history of Combe Martin, there is a play space for children, and it is worth dropping in for 10-15 minutes if you are passing.

Hi Joanne, I only visited the museum so couldn't honestly say if you can or not. However if you give them a call on 01271889031 on Tues, Wed or Thurs between 10.30 - 3, these are the winter opening times, they will be able to answer your question. It's a lovely little museum.
