Fabulous roast and desert and drinks at the crossways folly gate!!
Jun 2021 • Couples
We have had such a delicious sunday roast, beef with six veg, roast potatoes, batter pudding, tasty gravy. Then a orange triffle, sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Me a couple of large wines, a black coffee and baileys and my partner a pint of real ale. Wow and it came to £37, thank you Rose and staff first sunday lunch out for over 18 months. It was so nice being inside, air conditioning on a warm day!! Well done!!

A little gem worth the journey whether near or far!
Jun 2021
We tried Wednesday pie and a pint night and took our neighbours because we can! I am vegetarian and the veggie pie comes with its own veggie gravy. Also for all pies a choice of new potatoes or chips as well as seasonal veg. Between us we ordered each of the four options and 2 beers and two wines. We really, really enjoyed the meal and felt very COVID safe. We stayed for dessert and an extra drink each. The bill was still very affordable. The service and ambiance were lovely.

This is a really authentic local where you can expect great service, great food and drink and a warm welcome. We will definitely be back!

A truly lovely evening at a gem of a pub, under new management
Jun 2021 • Couples
Under new management, excellent staff, felt very welcomed, wonderful food, loved the fact they did a special offer most days. We had pie & veg, a pint or a glass of wine for only £10. (Wednesdays). And the baileys cheesecake...mmmm only £5.50!!
Pub really clean and lots of space for social distancing. Can't wait to visit again. Huge thanks for making the evening truly lovley.

Disappointing evening
Aug 2020
My Partner, a friend and myself decided on the Sirloin steak. All three steaks had a large amount of fat, I asked for a well done steak but it was more like medium to rare. The meat was tough and when my Partner said the meat was difficult to eat we were offered another steak. The steak arrived on a plate and our main meal was taken, so we were left to eat steak only which again had a lot of fat and was difficult to eat. Have visited previously and food had been alright.

Surprisingly good food!

We stopped here for lunch whilst passing through and had a very enjoyable meal.

The pub initially gives you the impression that it's only one step up from spit and sawdust, with the decor and furniture having seen better days. However the staff were friendly, they had a good system in place for Covid-19 and there was a reasonable choice on the menu. The food arrived very quickly and was really tasty, plus good portion sizes. The only negative was the drinks - as another reviewer mentions, the fizzy drinks didn't have any fizz!

A venue well worth a visit for a traditional pub atmosphere or a very tasty bite to eat.

A great Sunday roast to take away
Mar 2020
Really superbly cooked roast Sunday lunch, to take away and eat at home. The roast beef was a quality cut, not too rare and not over cooked...just perfect. Lovely selection of vegetables and gravy. It was supplied in stainless steel and china dishes, which of course you return. Also on the menu was roast turkey and gammon. Plenty of deserts to choose from. On top of that it was a very reasonable price. I am giving this revue on the first Sunday that pubs and restaurants have been closed to customers eating in due to coronavirus.

Disappointed to put it politely!
Nov 2019 • Couples
5 of us adults came to enjoy a Meal. Ordered drinks when we got there, the coke came out of a bottle and was flat, and wasn’t even kept in the fridge. Asked for a coffee 3 times before it arrived.
We ordered 2 burgers and 3 roasts. The burgers were okay but average. The roast beef was cold, tasteless and tough. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt. The cauliflower cheese was cold and barely any cheese sauce. The carrots were dry and the swede had hard lumps in it. The plate was hot but the food wasn’t. It seemed like it was microwaved. One roast couldn’t be eaten at all, the other 2 people ate theirs just because they were hungry. But we’re still hungry.
So disappointed and hangry. Will definitely not recommend this place for a Sunday roast. Wish we cooked it at home.
