Worth seeing
Aug 2021
Worth it, even with finding no coupon codes or discounts, it was a pricey trip but we didn't regret it. Thomas was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, funny and energetic. If you are visiting please have money on hand for tips for the tour guide, you'll want to tip them. .25 for the lookout point binoculars - the kids loved this! The gift shop line was so long and we were so tired from walking around so regretfully I didn't get a black shot glass that i wanted. I wish they had a amazon.com store that I could just ship one home. When you get to the falls, record instead of just taking pics, the light show makes the falls come alive and it cannot be captured just in a photo alone.

When you hear that waterfall...
Jul 2021 • Family
This is a unique tour of a cave and waterfall. Tours are often, but can be reserved. It is a walking tour with some steps and uneven ground. At the end of the cave, is a waterfall that goes into an underground water source. Colored lights make it magical! You'll also get a few seconds of 100% darkness, scary!

Be sure and visit the overlook outside!

Very nice gift shop, nice dining area, odd parking, clean restrooms, friendly staff.

Highly recommend!

once is enough

This might be a great adventure if you can figure out the "off" time. Instead, it was a cattle call. They definitely are trying to maximize profits by herding people through. Read the other low ratings about waiting in line for people on the return leg. They're 100% accurate. If they would reduce the count of people on each tour that might help give you time to admire the beauty of the the magnificent formations along the way. I agree with other reviewers on the cheesy videos / recordings that are part of the experience. Seeing the falls was definitely cool & I'm glad I did it but I would only recommend during the off season.

Is it worth going?
Sep 2021
My wife and I did a spontaneous 2 day 3 state road trip. We wanted to do something touristy and in TN Ruby Falls was one attraction on my list.

I am not much for a tourist destination kind of guy, we paid about $23 for a ticket and I have to admit, I hesitated with that fairly high price admission and being labeled as a tourist trap.

I even wondered if this is really worth it or is it just another hyped up tourist trap?

After doing some online research and seeing all these beautiful pictures and some YouTube videos I have to admit that I was intrigued.

The tour lasts about an hour, and our guide Aimee was very knowledgeable about the cave. The thought of being underground and seeing these breathtaking rock formations and this amazing underground waterfall, at least for me, a kid from Germany, was just mind blowing.

I even thought I was in the movie The Goonies chasing a treasure!!

So, Is it worth going to Ruby Falls? YES!! I highly recommend that you go at least once in your life.

Glad I went to see it, but once is enough

It was very touristy, which does not usually bother me, but the pre- recorded sappy love story about the falls 🤢. If you are into cave formations and rocks then you would enjoy the walk through more than the rest of us. The actual waterfall is pretty, but the light show- eh. You are packed onto elevator for a short but stuffy ride, so if you are claustrophobic- you are not going to like this. Also, you are passing others closely on the walkway so if you are a large person or you dont like people brushing past you, then you will find this too uncomfortable. Kids might be bored because there is alot of waiting involved. And even though the the walk is easy, it is a long time to stand and almost no places to sit to rest if you have mobility issues.

beautiful!!!!!!

this is definitely a must see attraction! You can't come to this area without taking a visit. You will to be get into an elevator and go about 26 stories down and come out to a beautiful cave. You will walk about a half mile, stopping to watch a quick film and your guide will point things out. There are a few stairs to climb so if you have a problem getting up them you might not be able to go. Also if your tall and have back problems to bend, again, think about what you want to do.My husband's back was hurting and it didn't help at all. But the true reward is at the end, I promise you! The cave opens to this big beautiful room with a very high ceiling with a waterfall and its all li up with music that fits so well. Great for videos and pics! The walk back is way quicker because you aren't really pointing to a whole lot of stuff

Seems like a tourist trap.

Even though the tour guides try to do their best there is no way you will great experience with the amount of visitors they try and usher in and out of Ruby Falls. You're basically being herded like cattle to see the Falls and herded back. The Falls are nice but not worth the trouble. They would rather you spend time in their gift shop than be educated and spend time in the cavern. Just too many people.

They have a good system of calling your ticket times and ushering you to the elevator area. They seem to let around 10 people or so in the elevator at a time. If you are claustrophobic I wouldn't go to Ruby Falls at all. Once down in the cave you are in a group with a tour guide. You need to duck sometimes and squeeze sideways a little sometimes, but mostly it is fine to stand up and walk normally. You need to all step to the side sometimes when other groups are on the way out. Once you reach the falls, you get a few minutes in there to take pictures and take it all in and then you are headed back out. The whole thing takes about an hour and a half. The gift shop seemed a bit crowded. My kids and I loved it all.

What an Experience!!!
Aug 2021
Everyone told me that if I am going to be in Chattanooga area for any reason Ruby Falls is a must stop place. Well, we were in the area on our way to Georgia for a vacation and this is the first place we stopped. My wife and two daughters (15 and 20) loved it as well as I did. The tour is very nicely paced and the tour guide was great as well. The waterfall was definitely a sight you will not want to miss if you are thinking about going to Ruby Falls.
