    Beautiful Cave
The actual falls and cave were beautiful and the story of how it was founded interesting, but lacking. We received more in-depth and accurate information from Jeanne Crawford, the founders (Leo Lambert) granddaughter at Mountain Memories. Talking to her and getting the history was so fascinating. For me the unfortunate side effect of visiting the cave is that it is a tourist trap. I’m guessing that there were probably at least 30 in our group. The majority of our walk down into the cavern was long because of continually having to step back and mash ourselves against the cave walls to allow other groups to pass. I’m guessing there were 5 large groups in the cave at one time. Sadly the experience is lessened in order for the corporation to make copious amounts of money. I don’t regret seeing it, but I’m so glad we met Miss Jeanne. What a wonderful gracious lady with the actual history of her grandfathers discovery.
We are sorry you did not enjoy your Ruby Falls experience. We do appreciate you allowing us to share Ruby Falls and the cavern with you. We hope you continue to explore the subterranean world, as each cave has something new to offer. Again, we apologize that the Cave Walk did not provide the experience you were looking for. Jeanne Crawford is a friend to Ruby Falls and we have collaborated with Jeanne to verify all information on our tours. She has come and spoken to our guides on multiple occasions to ensure our tours are accurate. We do offer a Gentle Walking tour for people wanting a more in-depth experience. Not only does it offer a slower, guest-led pace, it is led by a senior-level guide with more geological and historical information throughout the tour. We are sorry you missed this tour and we hope we can welcome you back for it one day. The Cave Walk is a guided, express walk through the cave to the waterfall, featuring a basic overview of cave information with recorded audio in a large group format. Cave Walk group size varies based on date and time of visit. For adventures offering more in-depth details, a slower-pace, extended time at the waterfall and a smaller number of participants, please read about our Specialty Tours [Gentle Walking and Lantern). Nice way to spend a few hours
Good way to spend a few hours rain or shine. We booked our timed tickets day of via the website without issue. I wasn't sure what to expect but we had a nice time in the cave. It's a mile round trip due to stops along the way for points of interest. Due to the recent rains the water flowing was powerful and the light show at the falls was cool. Good for all ages and would recommend if in the area.

The cave and fall was beautiful. The only thing I thought could of been better planned was the picture at the falls. We were trying to make our way to the front and just as we were about to snap our picture they turned off the lights and said we had to go. Thru should of had everyone take turns and called out how much more time we had so we knew not guess. Overall good experience.

    Beautiful but rude staff
The waterfall and cave themselves are breathtaking, and I really wish I could give them 5 stars; however, the rude tour guide knocked the rating down. My group and I stopped to take a picture in the cave and were promptly told, "to keep moving. This isn't a private tour." As a group, we paid well over $300 to have the experience. To be told that we couldn't take a picture that would take all of 3 seconds, was and remains absurd. Everything was so rushed and felt like we were just another number. They obviously don't care about the experience, but rather the number of people they can pump into the attraction.
Brittanie, We are so sorry our team made your visit less enjoyable. That is not our standard, and we greatly appreciate the feedback so proper actions can be taken for our team to grow and learn. We would love to hear a little bit more about your tour, including the date/time and the name of your guide. Would you mind sharing that in an email to info1@rubyfalls.com? Thank you for trusting us to share the beauty of Ruby Falls with you. Again, we are truly so sorry for your experience. Never Stop Exploring, The Ruby Falls Team

Expensive but unique cave experience with the waterfall
Reading a lot of negative reviews and I can understand people’s frustrations. $90 (with taxes) for a family of four (two children under 12) is pushing the boundaries for price on a cave tour that will probably have 38 people in a group and lasts about 75 minutes. Part of the reason for the feeling that this cave is crowded is that there are no large rooms in the cave and only a single path (instead of a loop). This means, except for the falls at the end, you are mainly walking single file and trying to snap pictures as you go. Because there is only a single path, during busy times, your group will have to press against the wall to let other groups coming back pass. Never been on a cave tour where the guides stop so few times to talk. The guides rarely stop and when they do, they speak through a microphone or there is a recording. The guide seemed friendly enough but you could tell her biggest concern was keeping the group moving through the cave on a timely basis instead of enjoying the cave. My guess is she is only reflecting management’s priorities. Cave formations are mostly average for a commercial cave. However, the falls at the end are spectacular and, I believe, worth the time, money, and hassle to see. You do get about ten minutes at the end to see the falls and take pictures, which is sufficient, if you use your time wisely. When you enter the room with the falls, the falls are not lit up. When they turn on the lights, it is an awesome experience. Parking is free and the tickets do include a four story tower climb, which has a good view of the Chattanooga valley below. Cafe is decently priced and the food was pretty good.

    Underground Waterfall
This is a very unique experience. Even if you have seen numerous caves and/or caverns with stalactites, stalagmites, etc. this location will be of interest because of the underground waterfall. The site is well developed and the walk to the falls is relatively easy. The combination of videos, audio recordings and the guides do an excellent job of explaining the history of Ruby Falls.

    Ruby Falls!
We had a fun time at Ruby Falls! Easy free parking, great pics at the top of the castle of Chattanooga, and the gift shop is nice and big. The falls are beautiful at the end of the tour. It took about 1.5 hours. We purchased tickets online in advance. A nice day trip from our home 2 hours away!

    Awesome! So worth it!!
This was a blast! We thought it would be less exciting but it was super super cool! Our teenagers loved it too. Great tour guide as well. Very much well worth the money. For sure would have this as a must do! This is a walking tour as well and it takes about 60-80 minutes.

    Worth it!
Absolutely stunning visuals the entire trip to the falls and a nice history lesson on how the cavern and falls were found. The trek wasn't strenuous and the view of the falls at the end was well worth it. Highly recommend!

    Easter Sunday Tour
We a family of 4(2 adults and 2 kids(8 and 10) visited on Easter Sunday. We bought the tickets online for a 1:00 tour around 10:30 the day of. It costed us around $111 for our family. It was in the 50's outside and we all wore pants and sweatshirts. It was a mile walk in the cave round trip and I ended up with the sweatshirt around my waist. It took us a good 2 hours for the entire length of the tour and we didn't get a chance to visit anything except the bathrooms. Speaking of bathrooms, there is none done there, so prepare in advance. We have been to a few caves before and this one was the best with the viewing of the waterfall at the end. The guides all seemed to enjoy their job, because they interacted with everyone, including people in different tours. The only suggestions (and why I am giving them a 4)I have for the company is the following: 1. Schedule the tours more than 10 minutes apart, it seemed like we were constantly stopping to let other tours through and vise versa. Also, make the tour size smaller, there were too many people in our group and it was hard to hear the guide at times. Plus, we were suppose to have 10 minutes at the falls for pictures, but it didn't seem that way, due to the number of people trying to take pictures of themselves and others(multiple times and in different poses), I know that we can't not control other people, but I think it would help if the groups were smaller and the time was spread out. But, they wouldn't be making so much money if they followed my suggestions.
Thank you so much for allowing us to share the beauty of Ruby Falls with you and your family! We appreciate your feedback on how to make the tour better! Never stop exploring, The Ruby Falls Team

The tour of Ruby Falls were wonderful and beautiful. Tour guide, Jacob was great and entertaining with our small group of 10 people. Our 6 yr old grandson absolutely loved the tour and seeing the water fall. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because we had breakfast in the Castle Cafe on site and for $33 we had a grill cheese sandwich, ham and cheese on croissant, blueberry muffin and 2 soft drinks. Definitely NOT WORTH IT. Bypass the Cafe and the tour of the falls are wonderful.

Tour definitely keeps you moving for the approximated 1.5 hours you are on the tour. Hard to get photos at times, due to the pace of the tour. I think the best fortune we ran into was having under 20 people in our group. Being in a large group would have been a slog and less enjoyable.

Worthwhile experience and was glad to make it part of our trip.

Thanks, Jeff, for the 5-star review! We are glad you enjoyed the unique experience of Ruby Falls. If you choose to visit again, we recommend our Gentle Walking and Lantern Tours. Those tours offer a slower pace and a smaller group. Also, visiting during slower times is a good way to avoid the large crowds we experience during holidays and school breaks. Once again, thank you for visiting! We hope you continue to explore the natural treasures of this region! Never stop exploring, The Ruby Falls Team

If you enjoy squeezing up against the cave wall to wait in line for 60 minutes (out of the 1hr.,20min. duration tour) 1,000 feet underground for the groups of 30+ people to pass by on their way to/from seeing the falls with a tour guide who seems utterly bored, then this might be for you. When we went almost thirty years ago, it was a touristy yet pleasant experience. Now, unfortunately, they have figured out how to make the most profit by packing the cave full of people standing in line waiting to see the falls for about 6min. Very disappointing. And then after standing in the semi-dark for an eternity, our gruff tour guide parked us in front of the "Tips Please" sign. Yeah, right! The whole tour could have been completed in 30-40min. but this stretched out too long with very little enjoyment. Maybe going midweek at first opening is better, but I don't know if I'd chance it.

Jane, We are sorry you did not have a pleasant experience. It is true that visiting at slower times can be great advice for people looking for a more relaxed pace, and smaller group sizes. The experience you described in your review, however, does not reflect the Ruby Falls standard. We would love to address this situation further. The falls were lovely and the story is neat. Our tour guide sounded very "canned" and there were a lot of people (both on our tour and other groups that we passed. For me, the multicolor lights seemed to take away from the natural beauty of the place. We haven't done any other cavern tours, so I can't compare. It was definitely a neat experience, but I'm not sure I'd do it again.

Thanks for your feedback, Justine! We are so glad you visited and hope you continue to explore the subterranean world, as each cave is unique. If you do visit again, you may be interested in our Lantern Tours. In these after-hours tours, all the lights in the cave are turned off and the tour is led using only handheld lanterns. It is certainly a different way to experience the Ruby Falls caverns! Once again, we apologize that the Cave Walk was not exactly what you had in mind. You are rushed through the whole system. Your group gets 5 minutes at the waterfall. It is timed. If it is a larger group wanting to take pictures, then there is no time to actually take in the scenery. The person in charge of tour would point things out but kept right on walking. If you have little children, like we did, then you really cant even have time to look at them because the little legs have to keep up. I would not recommend. There are better ones out there that give you more time.

Interesting history & cave tour. Tyler was an awesome guide. Some of the areas are narrow with low rock ceilings. Many stalagmites, stalactites and cool rock formations. The waterfall is the star of the tour.

You know they say the attraction never meets the expectation of the photos...well, Ruby Falls is not that. I had a genuine "wow" moment at the falls. It was absolutely beautiful and well worth the trip! It is extremely tight quarters for my 6 foot, 205 frame, but doable! The place has a robust gift shop, and the elevator ride is fast. It was warm and humid in the cave, but it was like 35 or so degrees upstairs, so we were dressed for that. Of course, walking warms the body, too!

Go to the bathroom first. There are signs that let you know there no restrooms available during the 90-minute tour. A quick elevator ride down, and several tour groups are going through the area at the same time, so occasionally you will have to pause while one passes. Once you get to the falls, it is beautiful. You get a few minutes to view and take photos. It is a comfortable 60 degrees.
