Kelly and Hunter saved our day. After another vendor was a no show, we found this company and we are so grateful. We had travelled an hour to rent a pontoon boat and we were left standing. In a last ditch effort to make the best of a bad situation, we stopped in here. They brought us a boat immediately. Treated us with respect, professionalism and kindness. The boat was great! Clean after a season of hard use, I'm sure and well equipped. The price was less than the previous vendor. We had a wonderful day on the water and we couldn't be happier. Thank you JOC!
BTW.. people come to see the waterfalls and that' s a great thing. But there is more to see on Lake Jocassee . It is a stunning place with pristine waters and gorgeous forests.

After coming to Lake Jocassee for several years, we too have experienced the rude, unprofessional attitude of the manager at JOC. No one cares that you are the gf of the owner! Do everyone a favor owner and hire someone with a smile and excellent customer service.

Very poor and rude customer service by some of the staff. We have been coming to Jocassee for 25 yrs and have rented boats from here at least 15 times. It seems with the growth Of JOC over the past 10 years comes popes service and very rude treatment to some faithful customers. To the point that when we asked to speak with the owner we were told it wouldn’t do any good since “I’m his girlfriend “!!! Beyond that, after days of waiting for a rental confirmation they stuck us with a very old and broken down speed boat and still charged us full price. All but the tachometer and gas gauge were operational! Steering was extremely difficult and reverse would not maneuver or work properly. We were told that they were so busy that they couldn’t talk to us but would call back. They didn’t. Most of the staff was very nice but this entire episode and this one person was definitely horrible to deal with. After waiting three days and being told we would absolutely have a boat... this person told us to go somewhere else.!!! There is much more to this story but I’ve said enough.

Boat, price, and process of rental were all ok and no issues. Staff don’t abide by CDC guidelines to wear masks. They require you to physically walk into their store (doors closed no cross ventilation) and the employees aren’t masked. That have sneeze guards in front of the cash register, but the young lady renting the boat to me was around the other side of the sneeze guard and was close to me (not six feet apart). This business did absolutely nothing to prepare or adjust for a pandemic. There is plenty of space in the store, but it was if no one at this business was taking any of this serious, even at a time when the entire state of SC was seeing record high cases. A simple fix would be to require employees to wear a mask, and possibly leaving the front and back doors propped open for cross ventilation.

We have rented several types of boats from this place on multiple occasions and have never had a problem. Clean boats in great shape at very reasonable prices. Renting from them will also guarantee you get on lake Jocassee even if the parking lots are full. Friendly, helpful staff and a well stocked store with everything you forgot to bring with you and then some.

I have rented a pontoon twice this summer from JOC and will never do so again. the first time they have you sign a form stating you will be responsible for anything that happens. Unfortunately NO staff is present when you return the boat and you are instructed to simply leave the boat at the dock. The boat was very beat up, torn upholstery and appeared to suffer from a lack of maintenance. Take lots of pictures before and after your visit. The second occurrence I was taking my daughter and her friends out to the lake so decided to try JOC again. Big Mistake! The swim ladder was broken. Instead of performing a proper repair JOC simply tied two wooden rungs to the boat with rope. What a joke! The teenage girls had a very difficult time getting on the boat. To make it worse the staff member at the dock said it had only been broken a week. The color of the wood showed that it had obviously been in the water for some time. Also, even if just recently broken, it should not have been out on the water. We wound up having to beach the boat which had not been our plan. One other note, you have no idea as to how much fuel you use. The gas gauge was broken and you just have to trust JOC to be honest when they charge you for a fill up. Be very careful if renting one of their boats.

We had a great day at Lake Jocassee on a pontoon boat we rented from Jocassee Outdoor Center. Everyone at Jocassee Outdoor Center was friendly and helpful. The boat was in good condition and ran perfectly all day. They made it super easy by having it in the water ready to go when we arrived. All we had to do was hop on the boat and enjoy our day.

Not your typical store near a state park! Lots of supplies you might need but they also carry supplies like ENO's (and straps) and upper end things you might need. A great little store with helpful owner. Old style gas pumps outside but go on in... you'll be glad you did!

This bait shop has everything you need (well almost everything). Atmosphere is great & prices reasonable. Variety of bait & they don’t gouge you. Good selection of maps of the lake area. You can schedule your charter boat tour here or rent a kayak

This is the only place near Devils Fork State Park (outside of the park concessions and Eclectic Sun) that serves as a store and outdoor rental center. We were here several times during our trip for food, snacks, coffee, directions, etc. Very nice people running the store and knowledgeable about the area. Opened really which was great so we could get a morning cup of coffee. Cute little place out back for a quick lunch or ice cream too.

Capacity 10 on the Pontoon. $300 for 4 hours, $400 for 8 hours. We had just checked into the pricing less than 2 weeks ago. Check their web site or call for more potential options.
