This is the worst park I've ever been to! Signs were posted for full capacity yet they said they had room for us. We pay $40 to get in and then there wasn't a spot to park our truck and boat trailer after unloading. Our receipt shows that we were there less than 5 minutes and they refused a refund. The staff was extremely rude in directing traffic as well. I'd suggest looking for another park and boating area. There are plenty in the area with better pricing and much friendlier staff!

We have been coming to lake Jocassee and Devils Fork for 25 years. Sadly it has become much busier and much more expensive. The lake and mountains are beautiful! The parks villas have gotten very pricey. They need to upgrade their WiFi as we were without all week.I was told there is one router for several villas and this is why it’s a common issue. We suggest a router for each cabin. Regretfully many of us need this for our jobs and it is stated that there is WiFi And tv as part of our cost. We expect it to work when paying this much. The tv also can work better. Also, as we do understand the trees hiding the villas, they have allowed them to grow to the point that there very limited lake views from the villas. Cutting some of the smaller growth would help create the views that used to be. All villas are the same price. Most do not have any views. Villas without should be a lower cost. All pricing should be lowered as it has at least doubled in the past five years or so.
The private beach has also not been maintained and is usually full of parked boats and jet skis.

We camped at Devil's Fork the weekend of October 15th, 2021, and we had never been before. Actually, my wife and kids had never been camping before so it was a bit of an adventure for our family, but after coming here, I can say it's a great location for a first time camping trip.
The weather was pratically perfect for us with highs in the low 70's and low's around 50. We rented tent site T-18, and the only downside to it was that it is a bit of a walk in to the site, with lots of stairs, so dragging our wagon/cart was a bit of an issue. We ended up taking a little trail through the parking lot to the site to avoid the stairs.
The site itself was awesome. Great area near the water, and near a really gorgeous beach. The kids had a blast wading in the water, fishing and exploring the area.
The sites don't have power, so I would recommending bringing a portable battery to charge phones, and bring battery powered lights. Also, it is a bit of a walk uphill to the bathroom area, just FYI. The bathrooms were decent. There were 2 showers with hot water in the men's room, just make sure to bring some flip flops with you. There is one power outlet at the bathroom should you need a quick chance to charge a device.
My only complaint were that there were a lot of families who brought their dogs with them, in fact there was one family with 4 dogs, and while I don't have an issue with people camping with their dogs, a lot of the dogs there would bark in the middle of the night, and I would just kindly suggest to people that if your dog is the kind that is skeptical of strangers and can be a barker at night, just to be mindful of the other people camping. It can be difficult to sleep in a tent, outside, etc...already, but with dogs barking and the occasional car alarm going off, it's all the harder.
Overall, the park is beautiful and well maintained. The Oconee Bell trail was a really fun and easy short hike that our kids loved exploring, and in the cool of the fall, was perfect. We rented a pontoon boat for a 1/2 day and enjoyed exploring the lake. In general, we'll definitely be back, and grateful we got to spend a few days unplugging from the everyday.

Visited here on several occasions the last being to take the Lake Jocassee boat tour. This park frequently reaches capacity on weekends so it's good to go early for access to the boat ramp and parking for the trails. Very clean restrooms and nice camp store and concession stand. Look for the event in early March called the Oconee Belle Fest when the rare small flower is blooming and viewing them is easy from a groomed trail.

Nice Peaceful Campground right on Lake Jocassee. Tent sites are right beside the lake, but require a walk from a parking lot to get to them. The tent pads are well packed and the little pathways are actually paved. Besides relaxing, swimming, fishing and boating are the main things to do there. There are no nearby stores except the camp store, which does have all the necessities. You can not get to any of the waterfalls near the lake except by boat. This is not far from Table Rock State park if you are into park hopping.

Nice park on a beautiful lake with a mountain backdrop. We come every year to hike the Oconee Bell nature trail to see the rare flowers in bloom. The trail is 1.5 miles in length. There are other activities on the lake, and nice cabins to stay in.

Took a day trip up to Devils Fork State Park to enjoy some kayaking. The main boat ramp area near the entrance is very nice, but was very busy for a weekday. Even with three ramps there was a queue to launch. We later learned there are several day use only ramps that were not as busy, so they are worth checking out. The facilities were clean, and the campground while small is fairly nice. The park has a swimming area with a sandy beach for those without access to a boat to enjoy the water. We enjoyed it so much we are planning a camping trip before the end of the summer.

Just a short 2 nighter to decompress.
Lovely well equipped cabin on the water, what a view from the screen porch!
The park itself is geared toward boaters without much else to do.
Had we been there longer we would have booked a pontoon tour to see the waterfalls which are only accessible by boat.
That said we were there for the cabin and the view and were 100% pleased with both.

Such an enchanting lake. So much to do. The water is amazingly clear. I have only been here in the winter and fall, would love to come back in the summer. Great fishing, hunting if you are into that. Kayaking, finding the waterfalls. The mountains. I could go on and on, but the place is simply surreal. The really odd thing is the parking lot can be packed with boats and trailers, like no room for even one more. My thought was, " great, we are going to be running into people all day long." Turns out it felt like we had the place all to ourselves. This has happened both times we were therte.

Small get away. The state park was a 2 hour drive for us, but I'd never been there. We stayed at the Villas. They were so clean! I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to walk into a super clean place!! Great spacing in between villas, good view of the lake and trees, and walking distance to activities. A peaceful getaway in the fall. We are coming back!

Do the villas have some type of fire ring/pit for a campfire?

Hi I would like to visit the park over the Labor Day weekend with my family and I want to know if I can take our two canoes on a trailer there? One of the canoes has a trolling motor. Are canoes with trolling motors allowed on the lake? We are also considering primitive camping as well. Will the weather be decent in September in that area?
Written July 27, 2019
Hi,
Weather will be warm and summery. However, they only allow
125 boats on the lake and you should probably contact the park to see if there are any sites available. There can be a REALLY long line to get to the ranger station on the big weekends. Canoes are fine, just watch the weather, you don't want to be on the lake owing to massive waves in a T-Storm.

Hi.
You can access the water from the beach. There are specific areas for motor boats, and for kayaks and canoes that I would stay away from with little ones. There are clean accessible rest rooms, picnic tables, and great paths for hiking. I hope you enjoy the area as much as we do!

Was planning a motorcycle ride through the park. Are there some nice places to park and view the lake and hangout?
Written March 25, 2019
We just came in for overnight, didn't really look around much. There is a parking lot where you check in, not much of a hangout area. There was an area/beach behind our campsite #37, walked down the hill, that was very nice and private, would be great to hang out, but don't know if non-campers could get to it. Definitely couldn't get motorcycles down to it. I usually search the address and look at the satellite view to get a better idea of the area. Sorry I couldn't help more -

is this a good park for biking?

This park is more focused on boating and camping. A casual biker might enjoy it, but a serious biker might find a better location.

We plan on visiting Devils Fork State Park this coming weekend, we will unfortunately not be staying in the park due to it being a last minute trip and everything is fully booked but we would love to kayak the lake ? We have our own kayaks but have no clue where to launch from to see the most of the lake we can, any suggestions. And people say to get there very early, how early is very early ? Thanks.
Written August 5, 2018
I would launch from the non-motorized park launch - located about a half mile north of the campground. Parking is available. Admission to the park is $10.
Take the left fork of the lake, there are three falls located on that fork. The right fork is a long way through open water. The park sells an excellent map of the lake in the visitor center.
