ASA 118 (docking) and ASA 104 (bareboat) were fantastic experiences with Jason (owner and instructor) and the team at Myrtle Beach Sailing School. Their approach to education is sincere, patient, and hands-on. Our class spent time discussing the material in the books, reviewing, and asking questions; and then we were straight out onto the water for the learning-by-doing parts.
I can't say enough about how inclusive and productive the teaching style is. But, perhaps more importantly, the adventure our class had in ASA 104 while sailing from Myrtle Beach to Bald Head Island was wild! We established genuine camaraderie as we faced the serious, ever-changing, and incredibly fun realities of bareboat cruising.
I have taken ASA courses at 3 different schools across the US, and Myrtle Beach Sailing School is over and above the most thorough and rewarding.

Our family had an amazing time sailing with Capt. Tom on the Bohemian Blue. It was a windy day and the water was choppy, but we all enjoyed ourselves. The breeze felt great especially since it was a hot day and it was exciting crashing over the waves. Capt. Tom played music and we enjoyed motoring out to the ocean as well as the big swells there. It was a wonderful experience. We would definitely do it again. I highly recommend this!!

Myrtle Beach Sailing School and Jason are a great way to get involved in sailing. Jason's knowledge and experience make for a fun and informative class and I feel confident after completing ASA 101, 103, and 104 with Jason that I have had excellent instruction and will be sailing for as long as I am able. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic four hours sailing with Captain Tom on 6/30/22. Never once apprehensive even when one of our group took the wheel. With family here from Denver and northern VA, it's all about creating memories and we certainly accomplished that! Thank you, Captain Tom!

An old friend and I took the 101-103-104 course sequence, and we could not have been happier with the quality of the instruction and range of experiences. This is a serious course with a boatload of material to cover; for the best experience, read all of the material ahead of time. We got to sail three boats, a 32, 34, and 45-footer, giving us practice with a variety of running-rigging set-ups. Jason is an outstanding instructor: experienced, knowledgeable, patient, and cheerful. Staying on-board was efficient and made the trip more cost-effective. We compared a lot of sailing school options from Florida and up to the Carolinas, and Myrtle Beach Sailing School fit our needs and budget the best.

We had a good time. Captain Tom was nice. Would have liked it if he'd used a little more sail to give us more of a sailing experience. What we got was a very sedate, gentle boat ride. Another downside was that it takes nearly an hour to motor to the ocean to begin sailing, and the same distance/time to motor back to the dock after sailing.

Always a good time at Myrtle Beach Sailing School. We've sailed with Captains Jason and Tom.
We took ASA 101 with Cpt. Jason and it was a great experience. We came in with practically 0 experience and Jason was very patient and worked well in getting us the knowledge we needed to build our confidence.
We don't live near any sailable waters so we returned for a refresher with Capt. Tom he allowed us to work out the rust. He was great allowing us to work through the rust and offering several tips along the way. We have to travel several hours to reach MBSS and it's worth the trip every time.
There's nothing like feeling of catching the wind and feeling the boat surge forward underneath you when you get everything just right. It's a thrill every time!

Had an awesome time sailing with Captain Tom. We were fortunate to have some pods of dolphins around us. I especially enjoyed being able to helm the boat.

We had a great time on the water and Capt Tom was willing to let me take the helm under sail. Made my day. After CT got us to nausea free seas, we had the most relaxing time. A “must do” if you can.

The crew, Jason and Tom provided us a great sailing experience while we visited Myrtle Beach. They ensured that we had plenty of time under sail and saw a few school of dolphins. A true highlight of our 4 day visit!
