My Son and I had a great day fishing with Capt. Stephen Fields. He got us on some nice Red fish and trout. He is easy going and a great guy. I can't wait to do another Charter with him, I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to for a great experience.

Our group of three had a great time fishing with Stephen. We went to multiple successful fishing locations on our trip. Everyone had plenty of room to fish and Stephen was great to spend our morning with. I highly recommend the Charleston Fishing Company, we all had a great experience!

My daughter and I went out for an afternoon of fishing with Capt. Steve. The fish weren't biting but Capt. Steve kept trying different locations and different baits. Capt. Steve finally found a location that the fish did bite and we caught several fish. We had a great experience fishing with Capt. Steve. He is easy going, professional and very knowledgeable of the local waterways which allowed us to enjoy our time out on the water. I highly recommend Capt. Steve and will book with him the next time I'm in Charleston.

Purchased a Groupon for this company and attempted to schedule 7 weeks prior to expiration date. Charter was full, and captain would not honor Groupon after expiration date; however, he would credit what I spent on the Groupon toward the full price. The whole point of purchasing a groupon is because you can't afford the full price. If the company's charters fill up months in advance, I recommend the company ceasing its Groupon's sales and honoring its Groupons past the expiration date. Because of this experience I will not use the Charleston Fishing Co, and doubt I will ever use a charter company again.

I appologize for your bad experience. It is recommended and most cpotential clients do call ahead of purchasing the Groupon to check for availability and scheduling. We make it a point to never sell more Groupons than we can fulfill. It is however, not our problem that we cannot schedule everyone for a specific date or dates. For the Groupons we have sold, we had as many days available. There are a lot of people who, by some coincidence try to book all on the same weekend or dates and we cannot run every single Groupon trip in a matter of days. The Groupon deals that run do specifically state that if the Groupon is not used by March 31, 2017 that we The Charleston Fishing Co. Will still honor the Groupon Voucher Value, but the voucher owner will have to pay the remainder up to full value. For most, when scheduling just doesn't happen to work out correctly, they are free to contact me directly and I will work with them and Groupon on getting a refund. I do wish you would reconsider this review and contact me directly to work on a refund. I appologize that we are not able to schedule a date for fishing and hope you will consider contacting us and booking a trip in the near future. Thanks. Captain

We had a great time with Capt. Steve. We were a party of 6, ages 10-50, and from non-angler to very experienced. Capt. Steve worked his tail off to keep everyone catching fish! He was very personable, attentive, and just fun to hang out with. We caught about 30 fish from 7 different species. The boat was great, well stocked and clean. We all fit but 6 is probably the max I’d take. We’ll definitely fish with Capt. Steve again next summer!

Capt. Fields took us out for the 1/2 day. The positives were that he was safe and was very knowledgeable about the area. The boat ride was neat for the boys. The biggest negative for me was that we had told him that 4 people (2 adults and 2 11yr old boys) were going, but he would only let out two lines. So only two people out of the 4 could fish. A couple of times we would put out three lines. We got 2 Redfish in the boat and we lost two by the lines breaking. He had expressed to me that we would be fishing for Redfish, sharks, and flounder. The boys were excited at the possibility of sharks. We fished around two docks and the edge of a marsh for Redfish only. He said he would cast a net for bait fish at the beginning of the trip, but that didn't happen either. Lastly, the Capt. had to pee off of the boat three times on a 4 hour trip. That could be a little awkward for moms and daughters on the trips. Just a thought. I have seen the other reviews and either we had a bad one-time experience or my expectations are too high. I just think everyone on the boat should have a rod and reel in their hand.

I am sorry your experience was less than you desired. I would like to explain a few situations for you though. As far as only a few rods out at a time, that was due to the fact that we were fishing docks and with heavy tidal currents and structure. When fishing structure such as this, too many lines out can lead to tangles and more lost fish. Also, I would have cast net for mullet, but due to the fact that I had already collected crab for bait, I did not see it necessary to cast net for mullet and that would have taken up more unnecessary time to do so. I do apologize for not being able to catch sharks, but when it comes to fishing, I can't make every species bite. When it comes to the Capt. (me) having to use the restroom off the boat, I made sure I was not in view of any of the crew on board. Also, the temperatures in the summer here can get very hot and I stay very hydrated. I cannot hold my bladder forever. I won't risk having a heat stroke over making sure I don't use the restroom on the boat. I work hard at my job and do my best to ensure every client enjoys their trip and gets what they want out of the trip, but I cannot work miracles however. I wake up at 4am every morning, fill the truck and boat with fuel, get bait, get ice and bottled water for the cooler, etc... all before pick up. I also burned extra fuel and made a long run to ensure that we had a good chance of catching some quality fish as the fishing immediately around our departure point was poor that week. Again, I am sorry that you did not enjoy your trip, but I do hope that in the future I can get you all back out on the water for another fishing excursion to change your mind. Thank you. Capt.

Myself and two sons went out with Capt. Stephen Fields, and had a really nice enjoyable day on the water. He was very polite, and helpful as we would want him to be on the trip. The boat was also very clean and really organized so there would be no troubles during our trip as well. I would highly recommend him for a fishing trip while visiting the Charleston area for anyone from the complete novice, to the accomplished angler!!

My dad was in from out of town and given I am new to the area, decided to book a fishing trip so he could see a different side of Charleston. Anyone can walk the historic streets, but the waterways are a treat and catching fish at the same time was a bonus. Capt. Steve was amazing getting us on the fish early and often. We actually caught a 13lb Triple Tail in the river which I hear is pretty rare. It was hands down my dads favorite part of the trip and I can't say enough about Captain Steve. I think an angler of any skill level can have a great carefree time aboard his boat.

Captain Stephen was phenomenal. I booked an afternoon trip for myself and three friends and couldn't have been more satisfied with the fishing and service provided. Stephen was working as much as we wanted him to but also letting us be as hands-on as we desired. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a hard working and fun to be around guide with top notch gear.
