We were in town on a Sunday afternoon and attending their Choral Evensong. We were warmly welcomed and found the experience uplifting. Sitting in the pews for an hour was a bit challenging as people were smaller when this church was built. After the liturgy, there was a charming reception and even more delightful people.
I would recommend trying to attend a service here to get the feeling of the place. Evensong featured the choir singing some of their pieces recently performed on an international tour. The program was boistrous and a bit schizophrinic in musical styles, but that is just my taste.
The prayers were beautiful and it reminded me of my youth. This mis-led, break-away group persists using a 1928 syle prayer book (if you are an Episcopalian, you know what I mean) At least they have progress beyond "Hymns A&M." If I recall, I have that prayer book somewhere in a dusty closet - which is precisely where it belongs.

Visually stunning. Turned the corner onto Church Street from Queen Street and was awestruck by the steeple of St Philip’s rising before us. Especially beautiful at sunset or after dark when illuminated. Unable to go inside but did visit the adjacent graveyard said to be haunted and the final resting place of former US Senator and Vice President John C Calhoun.

They are very friendly here. I love the pew design of church’s in the Deep South. The velvet and the comfort is better than church’s in other parts of the country. Charleston is very walkable, make sure that you see all of the historic church’s.

We took a waking tour of the city and were happy to stop at St Phillips and learn about its history. It is a landmark of the city and we had seen its steeple riding above all the other buildings during our stay. It wa sclosed when we visited but I would lobs to go back and attend Sunday mass.

On one of the tours we learned about the Ghost of Sue Howard who is believed to Rome the Cemetery next to the church. The day we went the church was closed but we did get to see the Cemetery. Although we did not see any ghosts on that day. Beautiful architecture and ghostly stories make this one destination for everyone in they're to see list when visiting Chelation.

St Phillips church was a very beautiful church in Charleston South Carolina. The church bells are beautiful. The church and surrounding cemetery were well worth a visit and to pay respects.

We do not recommend visiting this place. Parking is neither big nor well managed. The architecture is any place, average.

There was a ride guy in parking lot. He was busy in his cellular device. And arrogant rude. The lot was in complete chaos. This church looks good on photos.

Beautiful church in the center of the historic district. This is a great spot to visit. One of the many beautiful and interesting churches you can visit while you are in town.
