About
Founded in 1939 in a converted 1790 gristmill, Bucks County Playhouse quickly became “the most famous summer theatre in America,” featuring a roster of American theatrical royalty including Helen Hayes, George S. Kaufman, Moss Hart, Kitty Carlisle, Angela Lansbury, Alan Alda, Tyne Daly, Bernadette Peters, and Liza Minnelli and remained in continuous operation until 2010. In 2012, the Playhouse re-opened after a multi-million-dollar restoration thanks to the efforts of the Bridge Street Foundation. In 2018, the Playhouse unveiled The Deck, a 4,000 square foot Delaware-river view restaurant. In 2014, Tony Award-winning producers Alexander Fraser and Robyn Goodman took the helm of the Playhouse. Today the creative teams who create new productions here are among the most talented artists working in the professional theatre. They relish the opportunity to work on the historic stage where Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, and Jessica Walter began their careers.

My wife and I were looking forward to seeing the play. We were told at 7:30 pm the show was canceled due to an illness.

We're able to reschedule or request a refund. It's just very disappointing we paid $25 to park in a nearby lot.

We were looking forward to having a good time.

We saw Cindy Williams give her one woman show about her career with video behind her and a Q and A at the end. She was absolute endearing and sweet. The Playhouse is cozy and clean and a great place to see anybody and feel you are close to the action. The staff was friendly and helpful. I recommend seeing anything here. You will enjoy it.

Great little venue, clean with very comfortable seats, that are actually spacious, compared to NY Broadway theaters where you pay triple the price. Also location is amazing - perfect for a casual riverfront strll before the show, or take a waterfront bench seat and enjoy the scenery. $30 valet parking is a total rip-off though, as there are numerous municipal parking areas within 1-3 minute walk ($4.95 for 3 hours)

We came to Buck’s county to see a show at the Buck’s County Playhouse – The Bridges of Madison County starring the great Broadway star, Kate Baldwin.
The area around the theatre is absolutely beautiful. The theatre is situated right on the Delaware river overlooking New Jersey.
The theatre is a renovated historic gristmill right on the water. The seating is nice and comfortable – with a little leg room – its not too tight.
The stage is easily seen from most seats without issue – as the theatre is small-ish.
The sound quality if fantastic - we heard every word and song as clear as can be.

I am glad we came to see this show because otherwise I don’t think I would have known about the town of New Hope and what a charming and historic little town it is.

First, the good. "White Christmas" was a delightful show with great singing and dancing. It does vary from the movie but that kept it interesting. The bad: parking now costs $30. at the playhouse, which I find unreasonable and taking advantage of their customers. The ugly: the bathroom situation. I have never experienced anything quite like it. It was a full house and they only had four stalls in the ladies room. Everyone had to line up, single file, on the steps. It took forever. Upon leaving you have to go down the opposite side of where you are sitting to get back to your seat. There has to be a better way. I would still recommend the Playhouse as the production was so enjoyable. Just beware of parking costs and maybe wear a diaper!

Food was basic menu and OK. Service was very pleasant but slow. Prices were good considering we had view of the river. We ate there just because we were seeing a show. Probably won't be hurrying back there.

Last night my son and I️ saw The New World at Bucks County Playhouse. Being from New York (and seeing almost every Broadway show) I️ was so happy about this excellent production. I️ booked the tickets due to all the Broadway actors and was happily surprised at how good the show was. Funny with humor like The Book of Mormon. I️ definitely see a future for this great show. Congrats to Bucks County! Bravo to an excellent cast (and the last minute step in, Justin Guarini). Stand Outs, were Ann Harada, Eddie Cooper, Clyde Alvies, Tyler Maynard, Jillian Gottlieb- and the exceptional Jennifer Perry! The playhouse itself was small, intimate and charming! Come see a show- THIS show!

My wife and I visited the BCPlayhouse last night to see the play Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike. First time back to the playhouse since the renovations. Nice location with an improved exterior setting, along the Delaware river in New Hope. The theatre interior was upgraded as well, but it's still a snug fit with the small tight seats. About the play: very disappointing. Other than the actress who played Sonia, who was excellent and the young man who played Spike, the rest of the cast, including Marilu Henner were amateurish, at best. The first half had some moments of being decent, but not often enough. The second half was a disaster. The story line, especially Vanya's tirade on life was cliché and disconnected. Was he truly forgetting his lines and needing help or was that part of the play, unsure. But either way it was off-putting. Overall, not worth the parking fee.

We came to see the Buddy Holly Show. I enjoyed the show, really good energy and good cast. Lots of music and the story is interesting. The cast seemed like professionals.
Like many places the woman's bathrooms always have a big line at intermission. We thought maybe we the bathrooms in the restaurant area would have a shorter line. However the line was equally or even longer as the old creepy bathroom at the back of the theater. The one in the restaurant had a very long line but worse, it had a bathroom line monitor who was just unfriendly and mean. She was short with curly dark hair. She was like a mean gym teacher making the students stand in line and seemed to enjoy that role. The wait was forever and the lady in front of me asked her who the manager was to complain about the lack of restrooms. The girl said in a really unpleasant - "I AM the manger!' We all laughed when she turned around that we were all adults and customers and treated like 2nd graders in line to use a bathroom! Why do you need a bathroom monitor to yell at your customers?
Also they need a parking lot that is reasonable. They have a valet but it's very pricey and when you drive around New Hope you can't find a parking spot anywhere. I suggest rather than building restaurants they build a parking lot to accommodate those customers who need to park to eat at a restaurant or come to see a play.
The theater is good here, but they need to fix the terrible restaurant (separate review) and if you have a 100 seat theater, make sure you have enough WCs to handle all your customers. Also get rid of the unhappy bathroom monitor, make your guest feel wanted and welcome and not like criminals.
Good shows, really bad management.

Saw Ed Asner in his hilarious true story of his prostate issues, happy to meet him after the show as well.
Theater itself is small and sits along the water, only issues is a very unlimited bathrooms.

Beautiful little quaint town, across the river from New Jersey.
