The sea by the desert! A must-visit for Port Stephens. Search Birubi Beach on GPS where car park and cafe is available, it's on the northeast side of the Sand Dunes which gives you a beautiful view.

a four wheel drive adventure (4x4) through the sand dunes and along the beach. You can see people galloping with their horses along the beach. The tour stop at a huge dune so that we can have a chance to surf. No experience or coach...More

It's no wonder several movies have been filmed here with the vast Sahara like landscape of sand dunes stretching for kilometres along the coast north of Newcastle. We didn't join a 4WD safari but marvelled at the stunning scenery of the wild Stockton Beach being...More

Sad to see what was once majestic hill-like mountains of sand become an almost flat beach-like landscape over the years of visiting. Probably a combination of erosion & all the sand-based activities & the wear & tear. Unchecked vandalism has left its mark with broken...More

Amazing just to see the sheer number of tourists and tourist operators when you drive in off the road. A real eye opener. We prefer the quieter beaches so not for us but enjoyed seeing how popular it was.

Friends of ours took us out four wheel driving along the Stockton Sand Dunes as I wanted to find an area noted as Tin City... this is a small group of old tin shacks hidden in amongst the dunes. Really great area to photograph.

We discovered this place by chance and how amazing it is. Camels on the beach, huge sand dunes and 4X4 driving, dolphins surfing the waves only metres from swimmers, a great cafe, swimming and more. Excellent tourist destination.
