Lots of marine life - great for walking around and snorkelling - beautiful clear water. Cafes near by as well as the flora walk.

This would have to be one of the best and easiest to access shore dives around. Really good diversity of temperate and sub-tropical fish species, sponge gardens and HEAPS of different nudibranchs. One of my favourite dive sites. Hot tip: get the tides right.

This is a great, free, simple activity that is surprisingly good! Snorkle about with heaps of fish, just around the corner from a great swimming beach

Fly Point is must see for snorkeling. No, there are no fly's there, it's about flying a flag! But be careful. If the tide is running out, and you are leisurely swimming around looking at the fish, you may get close to the oyster rocks...More

The parking was a nightmare..BUT it was well worth the stress of finding a spot because once there the soft white clean sand and crystal clear water make for a great swim. The kids loved it. Added bonus dolphins visited!

Situated in a quiet corner of Nelson Bay it has a nice beach with soft white sand and has calm waters suitable for young families. There is also a public restroom available.

We have a great spot at Nelson Bay called FLY POINT. (about 55K's from Newcastle) It is great for snorkelling & diving, with a lot of people using it. Probably best on high tide, & don't go to wide as there are currents. It... More

At Fly Point, we found waterproof shoes necessary either surf sandals or at least rubber thongs to get you into the water as it is quite rocky around the entry point at the bottom of the stairs from the car park. Although... More
