Was ok but we mainly sat in the bus going around town being told about the history of the town. Back to base after 3 hours for scones and coffee very yummy. If you do the extended hour to visit the walk in mine that is worth it although it’s only a small tour then video

A brilliant full day tour of the opal mining fields around lightning ridge, you need to see it to believe it and the areas of Glengarry and Grawin were just amazing. our tour guide was excellent and she had everything covered for the entire day and the tour went like clockwork, morning tea and lunch was in with the price and considering the tour was not over expensive was a real bonus. Black opal tours were professional and knew their stuff and provided a top rate day out so a big Bravo to you all. if your visiting lightning ridge at any time this tour is an absolute must do and gives you a real on hands look into the some what quirky and unusual way of life of opal mining in lightning ridge. one note its not a tour for a rainy day.

We did a full day private tour with our guide Alan. What a fantastic day, we saw everything that we needed to see with a knowledgeable guide who filled us in on all of the stories behind the scenes. Fantastic morning tea and lunch served by Sue and Tracy back at base. We walked away with our bellies full and a smile on our faces from the excellent company. Could not recommend this tour company enough. We had an excellent time and have walked away with memories to last forever.

Thank you Trevor for being a friendly down to earth tour guide. Despite pulling out more Dad jokes per sentence than anyone I have ever seen I found the tour truly worthwhile. Just stopping by what looked like a junkyard the first time we drove past we got a lesson the characters and connection the town residents have You got the feel that this was a genuinely Australian place where the residents are so proud of their town are more than happy to chip in when the odds are against them You can see all of the places by yourself, you just cant get the same feel for the way the quirky, pedestrian, just plain odd and superbly functional combine to make this place special

Picked up from our caravan park for the 4 hour tour with Terry the host. Very interesting background of Lightning Ridge and its characters. Learnt about Opals and some of the background to the mining. Very infomative and interesting stops along the way. Stopped off at some of the highlights of the "car door" tours as well. At the end of the 4 hr tour you go underground into a once working mine for a video. The last part could be removed if you only want the 3hr tour for a cheaper price. Very worthwhile to do if you are visiting Lightning Ridge.
