Provides good views over Griffith from the top car park. The cave has a bit of information and the caves look very austere. A difficult life!

The lookout is a bit rough, but gives good views over Griffith. Be sure to go to the Hermits cave lookout which is the third or fourth parking place. The escarpment and rocky outcrops give a true Australian bush experience. Just be careful of the old hobo who yells at tourists for driving cars because he says “they release carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide into the air”. It can spoil the experience. The view for maybe a hundred kilometres is amazing.

Same said worth a visit and some said not worth it. We were clad we did just to see how the guy lived in the cave for 20 years. It makes you appreciate what you have and the hard times of the past. It’s only a 3 minute walk from the lookout which in it self is fantastic and overs Griffiths. It’s free but a you need to walk down some rock steps to get there. Again the teenagers look at it and go hummm but for us, it reenforces the hardships of life. If you have a spare 30 minutes, well worth a look but it’s a pity the council have not done more to preserve the site.

When we found out about the Hermits Cave at the Visitor Information and got a copy of the leaflet we thought this was a major tourist attraction in the area. When you try to find it there’s nothing. No help, no directions, just a series of Fire Tracks leading in different directions. Complete waste of time on a searingly hot morning. Suggest you just read the leaflet & not bother with trying to find the site unless some signage is added.
