About
Pinetum Gardens is a place of tranquillity, peace and spectacular garden scenery, a creation of Ten gardens from around the world. 40 years in the making, by the people who share the same values and dreams, with the least intention, we have flourished and grown to become the largest 'new' garden, and home to one of the largest plant collections in Cornwall. Destined to be a place where kindness and friendship matter, between us, between human and nature. We offer an intimate experience with a personal touch rarely found in our busy world. we are as much a delight for gardeners as we are a wonderful retreat for walkers and a place for families to explore and have fun with nature. Our gardens are wheelchair accessible almost everywhere and mobility scooters are available to use, dogs are welcome on a lead, plenty of seats around ensuring a relaxed moment to be enjoyed.

We had the chance to experience these delightful gardens out of public hours . You feel like you are walking around your own estate .
We stayed in a little caravan , immaculately clean with everything you need . Watching playful squirrels and waking to birdsong feels that you are far away from the hussle and bustle of life ...in fact you are a stones through away from Charlestown, fowey and everything st. Austell have to offer .....we will definitely return
Thank you to all staff, amazing job you all do xx

A perfectly nice place to wander about for a couple of hours but vastly overpriced for what is there.
Nicely laid out but the planting needs more labelling so that you know what you’re looking at.
Huge potential - with labelling, a decent cafe/restaurant, a shop and a much better nursery this could be a nice place.
A bit of a shame really.
Go to The Eden Project instead!

Expensive for what you get, overpriced, should be half the price. Given 2 stars for the very friendly staff in the cafe which was really nice.

Wanted to love this place as we dropped in for the afternoon - it was lovely if a little small and not that fantastic. Plus it was expensive for what it was - very little in the way of information on plants, and some of the gardens (areas) were tiny - such as the Japanese garden. However, we did have a pleasant two hours wandering around, but honestly would not flag it as a must-see location. Note that we got entrance under a 2-for-1 ticket, and still did not think it was value for money.

We visited during a week’s stay in the area. We had been so impressed by the Lost Gardens of Heligan a day or so previously. We were very disappointed in Pinetum. It was very overpriced and underwhelming. Although there was a reasonable variety of foliage, the whole place was very tired and in need of an upgrade.

Superb gardens that are a gardeners delight. Each garden within the garden was different and exciting to explore. There is a wonderful feeling about the place, it felt good for the soul and mind as well as inspiring ideas for my garden. Highly recommend and one to visit again. So much to see.

We love this wee peaceful garden although the entry fee is quite expensive, but we do love it there so it is lovely to visit again during our yearly holiday to Cornwall...

PLEASE don’t waste your money. This ‘attraction’ is the most disappointing place we’ve visited this holiday and offers nothing more than a lot of public parks would give for free AND this establishment charges the greatly inflated entrance price of £16 pp (no concessions for seniors).

I will admit you can visit more often If you are a resident in this area, making the admission fee probably a little more worthwhile but as a holiday maker, why would you want to waste anymore of your holiday revisiting a place that at best could be discribed as a pleasant park, at worst, a waste of your hard earned money. We’ve been to far better gardens for less cost.

The gardens are full of low Maintance shrubs, heathers and trees. Few/almost no colourful plants, not when we visited anyway.

The Japanese garden was the best part, however the pond was dirty with non of the ‘Koi Carp’ fish usually associated with oriental Gardens.

The lake was attractive but no better than the lake in my local park, which has information boards about the wildlife that lives there. No such information here!

There were very few signs giving the names of plants and trees. Little to no signage of where we were.

We walked round in an hour and we’re struck by the poor maintanence standards of the gardens, grassed areas and pathways.
Even prickly plants had been allowed to grow half way across the path. Weeds were coming up on the pathways and we didn’t see one gardener while we were in the grounds, which is unusual for public gardens. Even the gardens of the ‘private house’ in the middle, didn’t really looked cared for.

The photos in the leaflet/online were the best parts of the attraction and they appeared to have been taken on, shall we say…. A good day!

I’m sorry to be so scathingly critical of Pinetum Gardens but we really do feel cheated out of our £16pp entrance fee. I wouldn’t pay anymore than £5.

To sum up; the gardens were ‘pleasant’ at best. The toilets were nice and clean & the park staff were lovely, friendly and helpful but alas, I could not and would not recommend this place for holiday makers at the costly sum of £32 per couple, 11-16 year olds £8 pp.

If you do want to visit Pineham and you’re a gardener yourself, my advice would be don’t expect too much.

I expected more for the money, £16 each is a lot of money, if it was half that it would be a lot for what is there.
Lots of greenery but no colour. Need all year round colour. Japanese Garden pond was filthy.
I won’t be visiting again. I do not recommend this place. Trebah Gardens far nicer and cheaper too!
