Amazing place, location
Jul 2021 • Friends
What an amazing find, beautiful location off the main road.
Gorgeous surroundings, walk to Eden Project, near to Fowey and Mevagissey.
The Coach House sleeps 6, great facilities and beautiful veranda that over looks lush gardens and can even see the sea!
David and Jo and very helpful and let us look round the walled garden ( open to public Weds afternoons only) which is well worth a meander round.
Have booked again for 2022 as so pleased with our stay this year.

Peaceful, beautiful and marvellous gardens
Jul 2020
Lovely, relaxing, quiet, tranquil and serene. We had been to Eden Project before coming here and loved these gardens so much more because of how they made us feel. We walked and sat in the grass and genuinely felt such great inner peace here. There were only 4 other cars when we came and it was just a calming, lovely experience. We were so lucky to be there on the day of the week they are open. I would highly recommend if you just want a place to go for an hour or two and to feel wonderful after doing so! It is very steep in the woodlands area of the gardens so that may be tricky to navigate for some people, but I would highly recommend that area of the garden as it was so breathtakingly peaceful.

Tranquil and wonderful place to unwind
Jul 2020
This was a real find and one we will remember for a very long time. Peace , quiet and relaxation is what we received after spending a few days days in the Mews Cottage. The owner could not have been more friendly, caring and able, nothing was too much trouble. So much history in this beautiful place, simple but very comfortable accommodation, everything you could want is right there for you to use. This was a much needed break for me and I could not have asked for anything more. We will be back on our own and with friends. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you Jo, and everyone else that goes into helping to make this a wonderful place. Thank you so very much for everything.

Delightful Stayed with our elder - mother - in Gamekeeper’s Cottage
Aug 2019 • Friends
A week of peace and beauty in the simple, but comfortable, Gamekeeper’s Cottage.

The stairs to the bedrooms are steep, as we were told before we booked, but my 84 year old Mum is fit and managed fine. The house is well equipped and as we love to cook together we appreciated the assortment of pans etc, all in very good condition. We now live in USA and are used to wood burning stoves which kick out a huge amount of heat. We loved the upside of cooler and wetter weather as we had a fire.

Outstanding gardens, even during a wet week, beautifully maintained and with most trees and shrubs carefully labelled - a cornucopia of delight for plant lovers! I saw a negative post about the gardens and can only think those people didn’t read the guide as it is a huge and accessible garden with so much to enjoy. Worth every penny. Trees many hundreds of years old and the oldest and largest climbing rose I’ve ever seen with a stem wider than my husband’s forearm. Honestly, he’s no shrimp!

We travel a lot and think you can tell much about a host when something goes wrong. The microwave died one day and was checked out and replaced immediately with a new one, and we were even loaned wellies by our hosts. We’ll certainly come back and sit in this lovely spot in the Gamekeeper’s front garden. The cottage has it’s own private rear garden too, see photos.

Great garden
Jul 2019 • Friends
The garden is split into zones and is in a perfect state. Special thanks to the gardeners.
We were also very lucky to stumble upon the classic car show taking place here.

Jul 2018
This is a Hidden dream place to stay,There are 5 coverted barns and farm buildings from the Estate and can be let.
They have everything you need to stay and us as a base to visit theses beautiful gardens and the wonders of Cornwall you can not take a dog round the estate garden but the coach house as its own enclosed garden and you can take your Dog if you are staying. We will be going back Joe the owner is great well worth a look.

Disappointing
Jul 2018 • Couples
Disappointed to say the least, on arrival there were no one to be seen apart from an honesty box, we put our £7 each in and paid 50p for a guide, walked through into the walled gardens to look at some greenhouses and that’s about it, everywhere else was closed up, there was nothing to say that parts of the gardens were closed. If I could have taken my money back I would have!!

There are some other gardens in the same villiage, save your money and go there, we did and it made up for this disappointing place!!!

Lovely
May 2018 • Solo
A lovely hidden gem of a garden. Although I visited early in the season, the gardens were still full of interest. Wonderful glass house, huge trees, walled garden, winding paths, ponds.
I will definitely be visiting again.

Rare plant sale is an annual event
Jun 2018 • Couples
Limited opening times, but the rare plant sale on 3rd June was well worth a visit. Slightly irritating that the opening time was shown as 10.30 but when we arrived at 10.32 there were already over 100 cars parked & folk walking back with purchases already made.
