Much More than a Market
Sep 2021
This historic market has a bit of everything...fresh meats, poultry, fish, produce, bakery items and prepared foods. The one building is almost exclusively prepared foods of all kinds to take out or to eat there at the tables provided. There is a brew bar, too. The second building has traditional farmer's market fare in addition to florists and other vendors of gift items. It's not just a market, it's an adventure.

The Broad Street Market is an nice place to check out with a great variety of vendors. You can have a great meal here and sample food from several booths. Check it out if you are in the area.

Endless choices
Jun 2021 • Couples
There are 2 buildings to peruse: one has mostly food vendors, the other meat, veggies and fruits. There are several Amish vendors. The veggies and fruits looked like pictures from a magazine—they were that perfect! You can find anything your taste buds desire right here! A great place to visit.

Enjoyable stroll, visiting all the vendors

Bright and welcoming! Couldn't even smell the fish from the fish market. Had a great lunch salad and enjoyed seeing all the yummy pastries. Got some special treats for our pup, too.

Great for browsing and picking up some food.

Despite the pandemic, this was an interesting place to visit. There is a wide variety of food vendors plus a number of specialty food shops. They have the produce, meats, cheeses and vegetables along with some gifts and pet items. We picked up a few items including some bagels that were very good, and were the stars of the visit.

Choice Galore

I expected this to be a smaller version of Quincy’s Market in Boston. It was far from it, but still did offer ample food choices. There were two long houses. One was filled with food venders with all different ethnics foods made to order. The other house had vendors selling fresh produce, meats and hand made products. We picked up some cheeses and then bought some food for lunch which we ate outside and listened to a street performer musician. our group got cheesesteaks, pierogis, curry chicken, fried chicken, gyros and lo mein. The food was all prepared well and we all enjoyed our mid day meal. However, what we paid for all these different lunches cost us more then if we just went to a sit down restaurant.

Potential Superspreader Venue
Jan 2021 • Couples
My wife and I visited mid-day Friday, and found few Covid precautions in place for visitors. While vendors work behind glass partitions (good), customers are often crowded closely together unavoidably to buy from the vendors (very bad). While people wore masks (good), social distancing was often impossible (bad).

I’m shocked that reasonable public health measures are being ignored within a few blocks of the State Capital, a year into the Covid pandemic. It was the most Covid-dangerous place I’ve been in many months, and I won’t return.

Lunch time visit

I was hoping this place was something like The Reading Terminal in Philly, but it was sadly lacking. They had about 10 different food choices. My daughter went for Korean and I had pierogis. Both were excellent, but due to covid there weren't any seating options. Realistically they could have had some seating options instead of zero because they certainly had the room.

Go Here While In Harrisburg
Aug 2020
If in Harrisburg, you should make the Broad Street Market a destination for lunch. Of course you can buy meats, vegies, fresh pickles and on and on, but go there for the prepared food first! We had cheese steaks that were the best we've had in a long time. Due to Covid 19, there is no indoor seating, but pick a nice day and sit outside in the open air to eat and then shop when finished. Highly recommended.

Fine Place (Literally Broad)
Jun 2020
Broad Street Market has a plethora of vendors, half of them Amish, and the produce was fresh. It gets hot on the inside so I would suggest to management to put in some basic air conditioning.
