About
Lost in the deep woods sheltering the Manatawny and Ironstone Creeks is a mythical secret valley. Though today only white-tailed deer, great blue heron, and bald eagles know the beauty of this legendary land, it was once the province of pioneers and patriots. Their stories can be heard in the soft winds whispering through the tall trees and towering trestles of the Colebrookdale Railroad - a magical, forgotten railway to the heart of this Secret Valley. The "Secret Valley Line" is your ticket to a place and time when iron rails connected a divided people and the heart of the nation pulsed with the potent energy of the steam locomotive. Completed by soldiers home from the Civil War just four months after the Transcontinental Railroad united the East and West, the Colebrookdale is a record of epic engineering and heroic human drama. Eight-point-six miles long and a century-and-a-half back in time, the Secret Valley Line beckons you to experience for yourself the unexpected treasures of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

I gathered 2 other couples with their daughters to come along with our family to visit/ride the Colebrookdale Railroad for their Easter Bunny express train ride. It was an hour long which is just enough time when you have a toddler. I'm a dog lover and saw that all the proceeds went to the ASPCA , so I fully support that. Everything is very well kept and clean I was pleasantly surprised. Very well organized. Loved that the volunteers had actually dressed the part. We stayed in the Deluxe Coach car which is the general car, great if you have toddlers. The crew came around and handed out Velveteen rabbit coloring books with crayons and a paper bag for the Easter Egg hunt later on. They also came around and offered snacks (at a cost). The Easter Bunny and a surprise guest, Bluey, were coming around car to car for photo ops with the kiddos. Once we got back, they had a lovely Easter egg hunt outside for the kids. Overall, great experience and we all enjoyed it very much! We will be returning with other people for future events and would recommend!

It was a fun time with friends, the food and drinks were good, as we were in the dining car. As far as scenery goes, there wasn’t much to be seen. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by a screaming toddler sitting at the table behind us with parents who have no clue how to discipline. This was, in no way the fault of the train staff. Just disappointed that some people have no respect for others.

Fantastic experience!
So reasonable, too.
This is my second time taking a trip on the Colebrookdale Railroad.
I rode in November and enjoyed it so much I decided to take another ride on New Year’s Eve day. Different car but equally enjoyable experience!
So relaxing and informative!
I’ll be be back!

We went to celebrate our adult son's birthday. The trains were beautifully restored and decorated for the holidays. Service was friendly and timely. We were greeted by train staff warmly when entering.

Way way way too expensive for what you get. Kids can’t see out window and only 6 mins of Santa entertaining inside. For $240 in tickets, their idea of a present for kids was a 3cent felt animal smaller than your hand. Waste of money.

My family and I did twas the night before Christmas train ride. The train ride was horrible. The gifts was not age appropriate. The staff could have been more involved to make the experience more enjoyable for the children. Santa only read a story to the family’s in first class. This was some of the children’s first time, so Santa should have read to all of the children. The train only went forward for 30 mins and back for the other 30 mins. We literally drove 40 mins for nothing. The advertisement was false. My family and I are very disappointed and dissatisfied. This was the most distasteful excursion we have ever been in. When you pay for an excursion or ect. You expect to enjoy yourself the entire time and that was not the case at all. We would like a full refund.

Hello Latoya. I'm sorry you and your family did not enjoy your train ride. Not everyone can appreciate the 100+ year old restored Edwardian train cars, or the thousands of hours of labor and craftmanship that goes into each car. Perhaps you didn't notice since you showed up 30 minutes after your arrival time. However, you did received everything that was advertised; cocoa, cookies, Colebrookdale coloring book, a visit and photo opportunity with Santa, a stuffed animal (appropriate for any age) and an hour long train ride on the most beautiful train in PA. No false advertising, just lots of happy customers. I'm sorry you're not one of them. Perhaps visiting Santa at your local mall is a better fit for your family. Wishing you the happiest of holidays!

We had a lovely holiday train ride. I took my niece on Twas the Night Before Christmas in the Family Class car. It was beautiful! Santa was there and he was jolly and friendly. He read the kids the story and let them come sit with him. You can order drinks and treats but since they included Hot Chocolate and a Cookie with your ticket, you don't need to. The snacks are expensive BUT they are raising money to help revitalize more cars and the station so it's like a donation.

We had a wonderful time on the Colebrookdale Railroad on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Despite the weather, the grandkids (four of them) thoroughly enjoyed their ride. Santa was the real deal. He authentically looked and acted the part. We took many great pics and made many memories. The rail line staff were all so very pleasant and accommodating. The train cars were all seasonally decorated and very much added to the enjoyment of the ride.

Changed several issues of what was once a very different and enjoyable Train Ride with Santa and annual holiday family tradition. Nothing like it was in the past, and I'm sure we are not the only people who will not return since they made such drastic changes to this event. Shorter ride (by more than an hou), no more open decorated car, opportunity to purchase drinks and snacks during the ride, Santa now does not " join" the train ride from a field but is on the train now once it starts b/c of the shorter ride. Very disappointing from what it was in the past.

Thank you for riding with us. We lowered our price this year, as well as the duration of the trip, due to customer feedback from previous years. Because of this, Santa wouldn't have enough time to visit the 300 passengers on every train. Most of our standard excursions that run from 12/26 through Thanksgiving offer a longer duration. We hope to see you again. Thank you for your feedback. CRR
