We always hit Sauvie Island for a spin when we're in PDX. There's a nice 12-mile loop, plus out and backs you can do from that. The traffic is generally light and at a decent rate of speed. It is, of course, absolutely flat. There's...More

Mostly farms and nature preserves on the island... it is really beautiful. I really dislike the crowds down near the beaches, and people drive in really annoying ways. The berry farms are awesome and fun to explore.

This is one of those places that I have been going to several time a year since I was a kid! Whether it's for the orchards and the u-picks, the pumpkin patch, or river lounging-- it's a special place for Portland and for me!

Beautiful island! Be prepared to buy a parking permit which you can get at the local island store or at the 7-11 you'll pass in Linton (a town on HWY 30).
