Pack a lunch, enjoy the fountain. It is cleaner than South Park Blocks. Flying Elephant Delicatessen is just opposite it.

Director Park is truly the place to spend that off time between events and meals on your Portland agenda. The people-watching is excellent and the variety of activities that take place in the park (e.g., life-sized chess, a splash fountain) provide a great break.

A few blocks away from Pioneer Square is this fun common area.  Not much to the fountain area, seen much more interesting in several cities, but was fun watching two gentlemen playing on the life sized chess board. The wife and I also played a best of seven on a large sized Connect Four. LOL.  Had a ranger on duty and there were a handful of board games on a bench that I assume you could play on one of the nearby tables.  Definitely worth your time

A nice city park with free Wi-Fi. Go to elephants café for some takeout food. There are tables usually available. Sometimes there are performances or outdoor chess. Good people watching.

When enjoying downtown Portland, OR, Director Park is a must-visit destination! This well-designed buzzing urban hub has fun water features for children (and adults, of course!) to splash around in and ample seating and tables for relaxing and people-watching. With plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, this is a perfect place to enjoy your to-go treats and meals. Right in the park is a cafe that serves adult-beverages for the grown-up crowd. As twilight falls, the park is illuminated with beautiful lights. Whether you are a local or a visitor, Director Park is the place to go to recharge and rejuvenate and enjoy the the buzz of downtown Portland life.

This spot in the centre of Portland offers a great fountain for kids to play. This is surrounded by eateries for hamburgers, salads, coffee and other drinks. Sit down and relax.

This is a nice urban Park with free Wi-Fi. It seems like it would be a good place to take young children to briefly play in the fountain. Elephants in the Fox Tower is an excellent place for food.

So been here often near the theater and the parking lot for the theater, Very convenient and imaginative a park packed with things to do and just sit and people watch, Looks like it is set up with the viewing area faced toward the rest of the activities.

This is a nice place to sit for a breather from the craziness of downtown Portland.

Directors park is walking distance from all the major downtown points and all downtown hotels and there are many restaurants and cafes nearby including a Starbucks right next to it.

The Trimet and MAX lines run all over the area to get here.

There are sometimes street musicians here playing for everyone and some are actually really good.

Director Park is an entire city block nestled in the heart of downtown Portland. I love the energy at lunch time as people flock to the outdoor tables and benches that surround an artistic fountain. In the summer the fountain becomes a water park for the young and not so young. There are also fun events like "Summer Music" at the Park or a giant chess set for games with a crowd. Parks like this just increase the charm and livability of Portland.
