What a shame that in 2010 the voters did not approve funding for this museum. You can research your family but none of the artifacts are exhibited. Given the rich history of the area it is truly sad.

As a member of the Southern Oregon Historical Society and being married to one of the volunteer librarians I am certainly predisposed to favor this destination. There are wonderful morning, afternoon, all day activities for children and students of all ages. Physical displays and archived...More

My husband made the connection for me to do family research here and it did not disappoint! The group that helped us had documents ready for us and they were so helpful! Will come back again when I'm in the area for continued research!

I can only guess the $8 per child, $4 adult fee is to provide summer jobs for the three kids sitting behind the counter. It has a big slide, playground toys and a couple interactive exhibits like smell and guess. Also several rooms that are...More

The Historical Society keeps the history of many years of Southern Oregon including the Indians, pioneers and present day residents of the Valley. Excellent volunteers have kept this continuing since 1946!

Concentrating on regional history, best archival research library outside Portland OHS. Historic Hanley Farm outside town has seasonal events, youth camps, gardens, house tours. see website at sohs.org

The downtown research library is excellently run, almost entirely by volunteers. Hours are limited due to loss of funding, but staff is top notch. The website continues to get better and better, with so much information available. HOWEVER, the gem of SOHS is Hanley Farm,...More

I was hoping to browse historical exhibits from Southern Oregon, they have none. They sponsor occasional pop-up exhibits at the Rogue Mall. There's a research library downstairs which operates on limited hours. Lots for small kids to do in the upstairs Discovery Center.
