Headlands beach is managed by the Metro Park system so it is kept fairly clean. Patrolled by park rangers. Plenty of BBQ grills and a walking path the length of the beach between the beach and parking lot. However, if you have small children the...More

Very good place to go and get your head cleared. The beach is so calm at this time and hardly anyone on the beach 2pm to 4pm weekdays. Try it sometimes.

Decent size beach for Lake Erie. Very clean and plenty of parking. There are bathroom facilities to use and a snack bar too. The surf line is rocky but that is typical for the great lakes.

Clean beach that can get a little busy on weekends. Great for bird watching and hiking and fishing. Cool lighthouse w you can walk to (very strenuous). Tons of parking.

We have a group picnic out there every year, we never have any trouble finding a space, Kind of hard to believe it's in northeast Ohio. Nice hot sand and beautiful sites to see.

Headlands beach is a great way to spend a hot summer day or just to walk in the evening to see the sunset. I can say that some of the sunsets on Lake Erie are more spectacular than those on Key West (but maybe not...More

Very nice place. Huge stretch of beach. There are life guard stations most of the beach. The farther down toward the end, there are not any stations and it is usually less crowded. They have concession stands scattered along the beach but the ones at...More

Yes, the best secret of Mentor! Wild part of Headlands with (unfinished) boardwalk thru the dunes access is perfect for after work relax, Scrabble or just sunset watching. Better than beach at Marta's Vineyard also better sunsets than in Naples Florida!

I don't know what the park is like on a weekend at the height of summer, but when it's not crowded it's lovely. Lots of beach before you reach Lake Erie (though the water quality was rated "caution" when we were there) and then great...More

There is a path you can walk your dog. However you can't take them onto the beach it self, not on the parks property.
