The beauty of this building and it’s history are well worth a visit. We took the self guided tour with the audio wands which enabled us to take our time to explore. There are lots of stairs and portions of the buildings are chilly so...More

We had a tour that lasted 2 hours. It was very informative and very interesting. We would recommend that to anyone. There is some walking and stairs involved. And if it is cooler weather outside, one definitely needs a jacket. There is no heat in...More

Visited with tickets bought on Groupon. Saved us a few dollars. Audio tour was a waste, not enough spots to listen about the history. This reformatory has not at all been restored, the housing quarters are dilapidated. Which makes it ok for Halloween type tours...More

My husband and I visited with our two teenage sons. We all enjoyed this. We arrived around 11:45 AM on a Friday and it was busy. They ran out of headphones so we didn’t get all the information normally provided for the self guided tour....More

If you are a movie person like I am, then this place is like Disneyland. Yes its an old jail and probably not a significant as Alcatraz but this place has history and going there on a cold day like I did makes it that...More

We enjoyed our tour of the Reformatory, but with limited time we couldn't commit to a formal tour or the rental of the audio tour equipment so we did the self guided tour. It was good, however, the signage needs to be updated or added...More

If you like this kind of stuff you love this place it's kind of old and tattered and really gives you an erie feeling. From an architectural standpoint the building is beautiful inside and out minus the prison sells . We only spent 12 dollers...More

We visited as a family on a February Sunday (temperature inside was colder than outside, so dress up accordingly). One can still see and imagine the architectural beauty its façade had been in the past. But it's so huge and cramped and was home to...More

You can buy tickets at the door without any issue if your doing self guided. If you want to do one of the guided tours I’d reserve it since you have 9 people.

There is no air conditioning on the tour. I would not suggest touring on a hot day. We toured in the spring and it was very comfortable.
