Shale Hollow is well maintained in all seasons. It has miles of beautiful and safe trails. The stream that runs through the metropark is a favorite. Kids love it. They spend hours finding slate rocks and enjoying the cool water.

What a beautiful park. The trails are nicely marked and easy to navigate. On our walk we saw a lot of wildlife, Deer, turkeys and birds. The fall colors were beautiful as well.

Great little park next to a new housing development. See the brown sign to turn left right after Home Rd. At least four directions to walk with different environments - woods, meadows, sunny, shady, creek, cliff. The best shale wall is near the Nature Center....More

We like to hike in the woods and near the creek. There is always something beautiful to see. It is fun in all seasons! And it is also a good location for senior pictures or other photos in nature!

This is an off the beaten path park; very quiet and so far not a lot of people/dogs running around. Quiet!

I'm not sure of a date of establishment, but if you go to the preservation park website they have lots of info on the parks around the county.
