Devonport Regional Gallery contributes to the cultural, social and educational life of the local community, boasting an impressive collection of fine art with a focus on Tasmanian contemporary art, craft and design. In the Main Gallery space, exhibitions from the Gallery's Permanent Collection, staff-curated exhibitions and touring exhibitions are displayed. The Little Gallery showcases the work of emerging Tasmanian artists with a focus on artists from the North West Region. The Devonport Regional Gallery evolved from The Little Gallery, which was founded by Jean Thomas in 1966. The Little Gallery was situated in a weatherboard building behind the Baptist Church (built 1904) in Stewart Street, which is now home to the Devonport Regional Gallery. The Devonport Regional Gallery presents an annual program of exhibitions, education and public programs including events and workshops.

This is a little hidden treasure in the centre of Devonport. A small gallery in an old church, and is perhaps undervalued by the locals. It has exhibitions that regularly change. The exhibitions vary from touring exhibitions from the mainland and Hobart to exhibitions by...More

In Devonport for a quick visit, popped into the gallery to see whatever was on. What luck! The current exhibition (November 2017) was the Tasmanian Portraiture Prize - and what a splendid selection of works it presented. The space itself is lovely, and the young...More

We are sorry your experience was not typical of the majority of people who visit the Devonport Regional Gallery. The current exhibition of work by Troy Ruffels is receiving very positive feedback from locals, tourists and schools.

The Devonport Regional Art Gallery is a small but nice art gallery with rotating displays and no permanent displays even though the Devonport City Council has a large art collection. The gallery will be moving as part of the living city project which will be...More

When I visited the exhibition was of a local artist, so in this case it wasn't of mych interest to myself. They do have a some jewelry and books on sale which are reasonably price and quite lovely.

Well worth a visit - free entry. The building is a converted church, and has the most magnificent solid blackwood ceiling - worth a visit for that alone. The sole staff member there was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Visited yesterday, a Melbourne painter, unknown to us, on show. Not to my taste but it is always lovely to drop in to this gallery to see what is on show. It is a delightful space.

My family and I visited this gallery in January and they certainly have some unusual and quirky pieces of art including retro pieces. Loved how they showcased Tasmanian jewellers at the front of the gallery. Different exhibitions held regularly. Enjoyed the gallery immensely.
