Hawkesbury Regional Museum is located in one of our country's oldest settlements-the third on mainland Australia after Sydney and Parramatta. It is the only publicly-run , professionally staffed museum in the Hawkesbury and, indeed, in the wider area including the Blue Mountains, Penrith, Hills and Blacktown local government areas.

Free entry at the Information Centre with a small, but excellent display of various items. Seeing the flood prone history of Windsor was quite eye opening! A definite worthwhile stop whilst in the area.

For a quick overview of the early settlements in the area, and key movers eg Macquarie, spend an hour here. Air-conditioned. Very nice volunteers. Covers war contributions, convict times (very briefly), floods, etc. On weekends, go out the back to the two storey house/bakery for...More

As one of Australia's earliest settlements, there is so much history here but it is not obvious to the first time visitor. This will help a lot to anyone get some perspective, only small but worth spending some time.

This is a small museum but free of charge and well worth a visit if you are in Windsor. It has some interesting artifacts and both my partner and myself had a great walk down memory lane. The staff were extremely helpful and obliging.

What a wonderful museum, staffed by volunteers, donation admittance. Learnt so much about the Hawkesbury I didn't know. At different times they spotlight something of importance that happened in the past i.e the big floods. So many interesting things on display and plenty of places...More

It's a shame more people don't know about this wonderful Museum. While it is small, it contains so much history of the region. Hopefully with more funding and donations from the public of historical items, the Museum will continue to grow and expand. There is...More

Delighted to make a return visit to Hawkesbury Regional Museum. Displays of many different aspects of local history well set out in the impressive modern building. Easy to access, and free entry make it very attractive to visit.

the museum is quite small but contains a lot of history for this region. Interesting information about the floods the area has endured and survived over the centuries.

I wouldn't have known about the Museum if it wasn't for the school excursion. There are some lovely items there, it is a small space though overall and didn't have much to keep the kids engrossed. Ok outing for a short while though.
