A very rewarding climb. The view from both sides at the top was fantastic. The hard climb up the steep rock was very satisfying. There is an easier, longer way to the top but if you can go straight up!
Facinating rock formations and a superb view from the top. Plenty of vegitation, right up to the top. Just when you think you have got there, there is a bit more to climb.
We took the long route, and climbed to the top and back,...More
About 25km north-east of Tenterfield, off the Mount Lindsay road, access all the way to the day-use park and camping area is by sealed road.
There is an $8 per vehicle entry fee payable at a self-registration station that doubles as an information board.
We took the steep option going up - and being fat & 50 - it was extremely hard work! Fabulous views though, and worth it. Make sure you take water and jacket, the walk down the 2.5km ( claimed - it felt like 20 )...More
What a beautiful place to visit. If you love walking through the Australian bush then you will love this experience. The best part is climbing the magnificent Bald Rock and being able to look out over miles and miles of country. Absolutely spectacular!
Take the longer easier walk to the top which takes you through an amazing granite arch and massive boulders. The view from the top is incredible.
The day use area at the carpark has toilets and BBQ's, great spot for a picnic after the walk...More
Standing on top of the picturesque summit, I couldn’t believe I’d never heard of this place before visiting Tenterfield. Bald Rock is an amazing, steep climb up sheer rock. Those less sure on their feet can take the easy track, but tackling the rock head-on...More
Getting to the Bald Rock summit is well worth the effort. When you come to the fork offering a steeper climb distance of only 1.2kms and the more gradual walk being 2.5kms, I recommend you take the longer option unless you are young and fit....More

Hi. You do have to pay a day visitor's fee per vehicle at the National Park. I can't remember how much it is, but it is only a modest amount. At the little information bay there, you put cash into an envelope which is provided. National Parks website would have the day fee amount listed.

The camping area at bald Rock is not that large so it would not take too many to fill it up especially at holiday times and looking at the facilities I would not like to be there if it was. However the advice to ring the Tenterfield info centre is a sound one as they should be able to provide info on how many sites are taken etc so that you can make a factual decision.
If you go do the long walk up and the shorter one down as they are both excellent for different reasons.
