Travel east from the Nundle Hotel along Oakenville Street for 800 metres then veer left where it is signposted to Hanging Rock and Barry. Travel 6.5 kilometres and you will see a road on the left that goes to Niangala. Almost opposite, on the right, is the track to the Hanging Rock lookout. (It should be sign-posted). Turn right down the track to the Hanging Rock lookout and park on the right hand side after 50 metres.

This lookout is worth the winding drive up the mountain from the township of Nundle. The views are wide and beautiful. Be careful when walking down to the viewing point from the car park it can be a bit rocky and uneven.

Definitely worth the windy drive up the mountain, which is lovely in itself. The views west are superb, and given the elevation (1100m) the air is cooler and fresher than in the valley. Easy quick trip but could stay up there for an hour at...More

It is definitely worth the drive up to hanging Rock. It is lush and green, especially compared to the drought stricken valley around Nundle. The view from the lookout is great.

Not easy to get here, it's about a 1km drive up a dirt, potholed road. Worth the view once you get here though. There are some rickety steps out to the lookout and around but if you're not too steady stay off these, you'll still...More

We had our wedding on 16/3 and chose to have some photos out on a rock. It was magnificent. The views were to die for. Probably don’t climb on the rocks if you’re clumsy.

Fantastic views that seem to go on and on. Beautiful mountains and valleys. The road is not very good, dirt road with lots of stones. The walk is a bit rough and you need to wear walking shoes, but the walk is worth it. The...More

I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves. Worth the trip for this view alone, the lookout itself is at the end of a dirt road but easily accessible with any car.

Stunning views on a clear day, nundle valley and suurounds don't forget camera, short walk to lookout. Road in is narrow and dirt with a few potholes.. in saying that please watch your speeds as you never know what is around the next corner..

This Hanging Rock lookout is one of the busiest. There are always people visiting which is not surprising as the view over Nundle and the valley is brilliant. Definitely worth the visit. I would love to visit at sunset, you would get some great photographs....More

A short walk from the car park and you will be amazed by the view. Have your camera ready. Unfortunately, the track is for able body people, the steps are uneven.
