Considered to be the birthplace of Australia's steel and iron industry, this park is well maintained with historical information signs throughout. Gives a good insight into the beginnings of trade unionism in Australia too. Well worth a visit, especially if you are a keen photographer.

A good way to learn about the history of Australia's steel and iron industry is by visiting Blast Furnace Park in Lithgow. This facility was in service between 1886 - 1928. A boardwalk weaves its way through the ruins of what used to be a...More

Lots of history to read and take in as you take in the old buildings and the wind that was blowing whilst we were there.

Ample parking right next to the ruins. Enjoyed the signage explaining the history - easy to read. There are also benches nad tables to have a nice lunch. It is a very quiet and peaceful area. Wonderful photo opportunities too

The signs to go here are not the greatest but it is well worth the stop. Once you get there the council has (i understand recently) done quite a lot of work to set it up with parking, facilities, boardwalks and information panels all of...More

All fenced off . Road closed. Unable to get near it. No signage telling you before hand people with campers and caravans had to turn around in a tight spot

This park is a nice way to break your journey. A peaceful area that houses relics of the old blast furnace that was our first. While it is need of some attention it is still worth a visit.
