Overview
More
Built by the order of King Henry VIII it is one of the finest Tudor artillery castles in England, and among the earliest and most elaborate of a chain of coastal forts, which also includes Calshot, Camber, Walmer and Pendennis Castles. Today you can explore the whole of the castle, from the storerooms to the first-floor captain’s residence. Take a walk around the defences and admire the squat, rounded bastions and cannons.

The castle itself was interesting but the lack of signage or even labels of what the rooms were was surprisingly poor. It's not great value for money- £8 for adults inc. gift aid contribution and a lot of attempted upselling to become a Historic England...More

My family had a good few hours at this castle, lots to see and learn about, my kids especially loved the secret tunnels on the ground floor! The cheapest castle of the three in this neck of the woods.

Had a lovely day at Deal Castle! I loved the little touch of providing wellies for the tunnels downstairs :-) Nicely taken care of and lots of information around to take in. And of course, beautiful views across the Channel

Deal Castle is probably not one of the most exciting castles you will ever see, but if you are interested in this type of thing then it's well worth a view. It's easy to get to, and there is plenty of parking available. Deal is...More

We visited Deal Castle before Walmer Castle. We were just rather underwhelmed by it. The positives were the views, the information about who stayed in the castle after it was initially built, and the underground tunnels. The negatives were the lack of written information and...More

Deal Castle is reasonably small but sits on Deal seafront commanding views (unsurprisingly) out to sea. Visited for about 75 minutes. Other than the building itself there are a few exhibits and information boards and some kids activities. If you are just visiting one castle...More

The castle is the same as most other castles but the highlight for me was the ww2 tunnels and the underground hospital.

We enjoyed our visit here The rooms aren't furnished like Walker but lots of information boards around and some interactive stuff for kids.
